JEFFERSON A HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MAGNET?!

Did you know that Jefferson has formed quite a Foods and Industry Department? Under the guidance of long time teacher, Trish Janow, Jefferson has launched a new school-to-career program in hopes of creating future chefs and hospitality employees. With recognition from the Educational Institute - American Hotel & Motel Association, you may find more information about Jefferson's program as well as details of other schools involved in similar programs.

2000 FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION RESULTS

Results for the NASA - Ames Regional robotics competition are now available online. Jefferson students participated and did not make the top 8, however those of you who saw them in the live online video feed know they did a great job.

Something new Jefferson students to get involved in is the new Robotics "club". Sponsored by FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, view information on how the Jeff team will compete for the title. JEFF GRADS TO BE INDUCTED IN D.C. SPORTS HALL OF FAME

On March 30, 2000, seven of Daly City's greatest citizens (or former), will be inducted into the new Sports Hall of Fame. Jefferson's Class of '54 grads, John Madden (legendary football coach) and Jeff Alumni Booster President, Sidney Rasmussen, are among them. Also to be inducted are, John Robinson (UNLV football coach), Mike Orlich, Bob St. Clair, Anthony Giammona and Tom Martinez. There is a featured article about John Robinson and the D.C. Sports Hall of Fame in the March 7, 2000 issue of The Independent newspaper. For further information, visit the Jefferson Alumni Association web site.

CAPP PROGRAM GRANT

The California Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) was established by the California Legislature in 1984 for the purpose of developing cooperative efforts to improve the academic quality of public secondary schools with the objective of improving the preparation of all students for college. Jefferson High was one of a handful of schools chosen to recieve a grant by CAPP.
