Baby Ribbon's STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH
Poor Defenseless Earthlings!

Dear Baby Ribbon:

I was wondering, us Unicorns have powers to do all kinds of stuff. But what about the Pegasi and Earth ponies? Don't they do anything? Especially the Earth ponies, since the Pegasus ponies at least have the double-inside-out loop and the Flutters, Utter Flutter. The Earth ponies are practically defenseless against the dangers of Dream Valley!

Beachball, From the shores of Sunshine Bay

Dear Beachball,

To begin with, I know I don't even have to reiterate to you, a uni like myself, the first thought that came to my mind as I read your question, but I will anyway.  Ready?  Here it is: Unicorns Rule!

But danger?  As for me, myself, I don't often experience real danger, apart from Mommy serving Vienna sausages for lunch last week and Baby Paws eating onion sandwiches right before our date on Saturday.  Sorry, there just aren't that many bad guys terrorizing Ponyland (see related topic).

However, even in hypothetical dangerous situations, earth ponies are far from defenseless.  Baby Tiddley-Winks gave me a honking black eye last year after I ate her last popsicle without asking her first.

As a rule, earth ponies can run faster and jump farther than any other type of pony, mainly because the rest of us have alternate methods of getting about.  In addition, even though it is not immediately obvious, earth ponies all have their own special Pony Magic, just like the rest of us.

If you really want a scientific answer, here you go.  If earth ponies were really ill-equipped for survival in Ponyland, they would have been extinct years ago.  Last time I checked, there were more earth ponies than anything else!

But really, the only danger we face around here is the outside chance that we might accidentally eat so much double banana marshmallow colada ice cream that we don't have any room for dessert!
