DRAGONRIDERS:

To be a dragonrider, there usually three ways to go about a persona. Backdating, Transferring, and, of course, Impressing.

1) Backdating: Our Weyr does have dragons to backdate. A clutch chart will be made available to so you can see where we have spare dragonets. We'll see what we can do (what colors we have and from when), and you'll be told what clutch your dragon Impressed out of and who your Clutchmates are.

2) Transferring: Coming from another Weyr. There are no "real" Weyrs (as in played by other people) in our timeline, so you can pretty much have free rein over where you come from. Except for the first batch of weyrlings, all of Veridia's full riders have transferred right now, so just tell us where/when, and as long as it doesn't conflict with another person's sheet (unlikely), you're fine. And if it does...we'll fix it!

3) Impressing: We will hold live Hatchings during our regular meeting times when a Hatching would be imminent in Pernese time. All you have to do is create a persona and submit it to the Weyrleaders. We'll look it over as soon as we can and let you know when you're approved. Then, be at the Hatching and ::poof::, you've got a dragon. -If- the dragon chooses you. If you can't make the Hatching, don't worry, you won't miss your chance!!! We'll notify you by email that evening or the next day with the results.

Notes on Impressing: IMPORTANT, due to recent changes by Anne McCaffrey herself...

a) Queens only Impress heterosexual girls, and bronzes only heterosexual boys. Browns also prefer straight males (no female brownriders), while blues tend to choose more masculine homosexual males. Greens Impress girls regardless of their sexual preference and the more feminine homosexual boys. Many of you who were in Pern fandom before will notice this is new, but we have no choice; this is by Anne McCaffrey's will. ****There will be NO exceptions to this.****

b) There are *only* five (5) colors dragons come in: Gold, bronze, brown, green, blue. There can be different shades, but nothing overly drastic.

c) During a live Hatching...you get to choose the name of your dragon, but the dragon will "tell" you his or her name for the log.

Notes on Speech for rp: We indicate a dragon speaking, either to his/her rider or another dragon, by {{ }} or << >> around the words. A rider speaking to his dragon is [[ ]] or >> <<. When relating an action your persona is making, put it in double colons....:: :: Please reserve CAPS for SHOUTING. If we all use the same symbols, we won't be confused.

HOLDERS:

We have only a limited amount of openings for ranking holders, but there are many minor holder and cotholder openings. In fact, as of now, there are only three major Holders and one Holder (Lady Holder Aylinn, Lord Holder Etdain, Lord Holder Ferrin and Holder Iashin). If you'd like a minor Holder under Lady Aylinn, email Holly. If you want a Holder under Lord Etdain, email Dee. If you want a Holder under Lord Ferrin, email Ben. If a Lord Holder is to your fancy, email the Weyrleaders. All we ask of a Holder persona is that the character fit the position.

CRAFTERS:

Remember that there are usually 5 or so turns of Apprenticeship and 10-15 of Journeyman studies before Mastery. Please check with us before creating a Master persona.

...on the Zine

Our Zine for Veridia Weyr, the Veridia Vine, will be sent via e-mail. There will be 4 issues released a year. Stories, tunings, artwork, just about anything may be submitted to the Editors for publishing. One piece of artwork a year can be substituted for a story. A story towards your requirements for a major persona may either be self-written or co-written, and round robins may be used, depending on the length of your part. A story has no minimun and no maximum, but for long stories it may be cut... the "to be continued" bit.

...on personas

At Veridia Weyr, we believe in fairness first. This means, no Lady-Holder Queenrider Weyrsingers, to make an exaggeration. Save some of the high positions for others! :)~ Also, as some other weyrs have stated, we also discourage the Perfect Persona. That is, a high ranking, great looking, faultless persona. In fact, we ask that you -mention- a fault or two! This is more fun to write *and* read about. We also belive that with rank comes responsibility. More on that below.

...on flitters

Fire lizards are wonderful. We all love them. But a "collection" is a bit unreasonable. We ask that you have no more than three, unless you can persuade us that you either 1) deserve them --or-- 2) you can handle them. A fair of firelizards that look to one person can get distracting, especially when their master is angry or distressed. Queen fire lizards are very rare, and not many people have them. Please tell us before you give yourself a queen flitter and come up with a good explanation of just -how- you were lucky enough to find her. Also tell us before you "acquire" a bronze.

We -will- be having occasional fire lizard Hatchings. The decision on who gets what color egg will be decided probably by a dice roll before the meeting, or WeyrLeader A'lan will whip out his magical hat and draw names.

...on rank and responsibility

We have no problem with you creating a major persona. As of now, actually, several major positions, such as Lord Holder, Weyrhealer, and Headwoman are open.

Another way to gain a ranking persona is... for us to give it to you! Just keep in mind non-ranking people can have just as much fun -- if not more. For instance, two times a turn a queenrider is trapped in the Hatching Ground with a broody dragon while greenriders get all the fun of a rising without the same result.... Apprentices and journeymen tend to get into more mischief, and get away with it......
