Character guidelines

Guidelines for creating "official" Hsien Chars for Little Asia, Necropolis.

First off, if you're going to go through me, you're going to do it as something approaching a starting character.

Why?

Simple. Even the designer of the Hsien book has acknowledged the huge Twink potential of their powers, which are almost on a level with those of Mages, without the drawback of Paradox.

In short, if you aren't capable of creating, and playing, a starting-rank character, it's probably a better idea for you to go play in Shadows.

Yeah, I realize this is a bit arrogant of me, but seriously, Alchemy is just ridiculously strong, and extremely easy to go nuts with....

So. If you can live with that, then....

Sky's the limit.

While there are some concepts that have been given fair exposure (we've had a sizable number of Chu-ih-yu martial artists, for instance), there's still few enough players that just about any concept can be explored and fleshed out without seeming hackneyed.

While my feeling is that the Hiryanu should outnumber the Kamuii, that's not even a hard-and-fast rule.... I would like to see more Shinma than Daitya, though.

Oh, and if you want a look at a Hsien Character sheet on Adobe Acrobat, check out the Moonlit Trod site, and follow the links--it's a good site for any Changeling player/ST, and includes a brief Q&A with the Lo8MD designer.

I've also written a step-by-step guide to char creation that you might find useful.

Likewise, I've got some advice for folks who want a little insight into how to play a Hsien in the HTML Chat setting.

Sheets should be sent to me at Merinita@yahoo.com

If you're confused about any aspect of making/running a Hsien, please feel free to write. If I get enough questions, I'll work up a FAQ.
