Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA is pleased to announce that the
Electronic Newsletter entitled "HELP THE CHILDREN" is now
available on our internet website www.crca.tsx.org/ We invite all of
you to see our website and also to send your comments on it contents. At
present the most recent issues of the newsletter are available. However in the
near future the complete back catalogue of all previous issues will be
available for your reference. The Children's
Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA would like once again to thank our
partner DFID, without whom our work for preparation and publication of the
Electronic Newsletter would not reach such a large audience and for their
continued confidence in us and for their continued support. ALBANIAN ROMA YOUTH CONGRESS IN TIRANA The Albanian Roma
Youth of "AMARO DROM" held their annual conference in the Palace
of Congress Tirana on Saturday 04/03/2000. There were more than 60
participants from various Roma youth communities throughout Albania. The main topics of
discussion were three issues: Identity, Education and Integration.
Speakers were from all over the country strongly recommended the increase
of level of education of Roma children in Albania by putting in a low
level the drop outs of children from schools. Other topics of
discussion were the rights of women and children within the Roma
community, the integration of Roma's within the Albanian community. Representatives of

kete takim moren pjese OJQ-te shqiptare dhe te huaja, organizatat
nderkombetare, donatore si dhe institucionet qeveritare te cilat kane si
fokus te punes se tyre femijet dhe te drejtat e tyre. PROGRAMI 17.30

pjese. Mbledhja vazhdoi me
prezantimin e gazetes rinore "Delphi XS" dhe me tej me diskutime
ne lidhje me artikujt e gazetave te perzgjedhura dhe fotokopjuara me pare.
Ne fund te takimit pjesemarresit dolen me disa sugjerime ne lidhje me
median dhe etiken qe duhet te zoterohet kur trajtohen çeshtje qe kane te
bejne me femijet. Gjeja kryesore qe duhet te konsiderohet eshte trainimi I
gazetareve per te drejtat e femijeve dhe krijimi I nje kodi etik per
gazetaret kur trajtojne çeshtje qe kane te bejne me femijet. TAKIMI

per te Drejtat e Femijeve ne Shqiperi do te jete perseri pika e kontaktit
per Rrjetin per te Drejtat e Femijeve ne Shqiperi gjate kesaj kohe. Takimi i gjashte i Rrjetit do te organizohet
nga Stafi i Keshillit Rinor Shqiptar. Pritet qe mbledhja tjeter e Rrjetit
te jete ne mes te marsit. Tema e diskutimit mund te jete e njejta duke

per te Drejtat eFemijeve ne Shqiperi REPORT ON THE FIFTH MEETING OF THE NETWORK On 16th of
February 2000, organised by Save the Children in Albania - SCiA, in the
Offices of SCiA, at 17.30 o'clock was held the Fifth Meeting of the
Albanian Children's Rights Network. In the meeting
participated Albanian, foreign and international organisations, donors and
state institutions that have in their focus of work children and their
rights. THE PROGRAMME 17.30 - 17.40
The introduction of the participants and to objectives of meeting 17.40 - 18.10
The introduction of the media representatives (each of them had to
talk for ten minutes). 18.10 - 18. 25
Questions from the attendees to media representatives. Distribution
of 5 articles to the attendees from different newspapers and ask them to
think about the question: What is the impact on children (positive or
negative)? 18.25 - 18.30
Election of the next Network representative, date, venue time of
the next meeting. The
representatives of media after confirming their participation didn't
attend the meeting. Nevertheless the meeting continued with the
representation of the "Delphi XS" newspaper (youth newspaper)
and then furthermore with discussions about the newspaper articles
photocopied. At the end of the meeting the participants came with some
suggestions about the media and the ethics while writing about minors. The
first thing to be considered was the training of journalists on children's
rights and the creation of an ethical code for the journalists while
dealing with minors. WHO PARTICIPATED

NEW REPORT ABOUT ROMA CHILDREN IN ALBANIA -SOON
Would you like to know more about ROMA CHILDREN in
Albania? A report concerning issues on ROMA CHILDREN is
currently being prepared by Children's Human Rights Centre in partnership
with Save the Children - Albania. We have recently completed visits to five
Albanian cities Berat, Gjirokastra,Tirana Shkodra,Fier and Korça. The report will be published sometime next month. For all of you who would like to receive a copy of the report on ROMA CHILDREN issues in Albania (text format) please don't hesitate to request a copy via e-mail from CRCA.
