Simi Valley Ground Pounders

Due to personal situations I have not been able to keep the Ground Pounders website updated. The highly anticipated arrival of our first baby in April and a general lack of time between jobs to even race have left the clubs page a bit on the old side.

The information on the site is still helpful but keeping it current has become impossible...for now. So, Jack Kasten has started up a basic page that lists the latest need to know info like race dates and times on this site http://hometown.aol.com/svgprc/SVGP1.html.

Check it out for the latest news.

Thanks, David

Hey folks...long time no update!! Yep, this Sunday is our next race after our long Easter break and the weather is going to be beautiful. Remember we will run everything you can bring. We are running our usuall program of Sedans, Off-Road/Gearbox, and NASCAR Pan-car Oval. And, of course we expect to see a few of you gas guys out there to enjoy our HUGE track. Those who came to our last race saw a great show of speed and daredevil tumbling from those asphalt flyers and we would love to see a real time replay. So, remember the entry fee is a shamefully low $5 per class and as always food and drink are only a parkinglot walk away at Kmart or Am-Pm. If you have forgotten how to get to the action, due to the long break, feel free to email me or check out the website for all the details. Have a great Friday and Saturday, but don't forget to top the weekend off with us on Sunday morning.

For those who may be interested in the happenings of a few of the members during the break....well. Jack Kasten our track director and his son Kevin got me hooked on Dirt Oval and we have been running every Friday night u at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus. I am having a blast and all I did was put some foam tires on my T2 truck and changed my shock angles. We froze last week, but this Friday is supposed to be georgous and we expect to have a great day. This Friday will be the second week, Race#2 of the Spring Sizzler Dirt Oval Series and with my first race coming in at 2nd in Sportsman Stock Truck I guess I am there for the long haul. By the way, Kevin Kasten is running the Spring Sizzler as the defending Expert Stock Truck Champion with his win in the Winter Heat Series a few weeks back. Kevin tied in points but was declared the winner by virtue of having 1 more race win than his skilled competitor. Way to go Kevin and good luck in the next 9 weeks.

That's all for now folks, hope to have more info and Friday results for you on Sunday.

The Simi Valley Ground Pounders R/C Club, is dedicated to making R/C racing a fun event for FAMILIES. Like most R/C racing clubs, we want to have fun, with good competition, and a lot of excitement, but first and FOREMOST we want the events to be a place where the entire family can come and enjoy the day. Whether you are racing, pit crewing for a son, daughter or spouse, or just there to cheer on a friend or relative, we want you to have a good time. We do our best to make it an environment that you would want to bring your family to. So, come on out and see us race, OR bring your equipment, new or old, novice or pro, and join the fun.

Currently, we run On-Road/Parking Lot races on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month in the parking lot of Kmart at the corner of Madera and LA Ave. We start sign ups around 9:30, with racing starting at 11:00am, and try to have the events concluded by 5pm, but they can run long depending on the number of entries and classes. There is A/C power, food available at Kmart or the Am/Pm as well as several fast food restraunts a short drive away. The track is clean and smooth and with the the track directors secret traction sauce we should get great traction for everyone. If you need any further instructions on getting to the track or race related questions, not answered elsewhere on this site, please email me at Barbwyr@Geocities.com. Some races subject to cancellation due to weather, special events, and acts of GOD, so check out the Results page on Saturday before the event, for last minute changes.

Our race fees for OnRoad will be $5 per car per class. All fees collected go back into the club fund to pay for track upgrades and trophies for the various series races.
You must be a member of the National Organization for Racing Radio Controlled Autos (N.O.R.R.C.A.). this is for insurance liability reasons and we can sign you up at the track. NORRCA membership is $25. For your first race ONLY with us we will cover the NORRCA fee for you.
