coming into this race I was 3 points behind Jack. This meant I had to TQ and beat Jack by 2 places in order to get the first place honors. After fighting an ill handling truck in the first heat and breaking halfway through, it was appearent that I needed to find some traction to get that TQ. The TQ was set at 36 laps in the first heat, and as needed I came out in the second heat and found that traction I needed and pulled out a 39 lap TQ. Phase 1 complete now onto the main and phase 2 of the plan. Jack and I started on the front row and from the buzzer swapped the lead a half dozen times in the opening laps until a backstretch collision with a lapper gave Jack a full track lead. I held Jack off for 2 or 3 laps but Jack was able to put me down a lap as the life began to drain out of my battery. I was able to regain my lap when Jack flipped in traffic, but with my battery dumping early Jack was able to put me away and in fact I lost 2nd to Kyle Borst and creaped across the line at full throttle. Even had my charger not failed me Jack had the handling down and would likely have taken the win and thus.....YES!!...painfull as it is to say, Jack took the Spring Sizzler Points Championship. I guess it's only fitting, since had it not been for Jack I would not have been running Dirt Oval anyways. Bringing home 3rd place in the series was Steven with Daniel finishing approximately 8th.
Congrats to Kevin and Jack on a Kasten sweep of the truck classes at Hot Rod Hobbies. The next 2 weeks will be Non-points races in warmup for the King of Dirt Nationals, an 8 race series that will include 1 throwout race to allow for a closer finish in the end. This as a result of the Spring Series going into the last race with only the 1st place Sportsman truck title undecided.
Well, it's off to Sunday and some On-Road racing with the ground Pounders. Hope to see you all there.
