Amy laid in her bed the next morning and stared out the window just thinking. She got up quietly and walked into the living room. She watched AJ sleep soundly. She examined his rugged face and hardened body. She noted his breathing that made his chest move up and down in a slow steady pace. When he was a ghost she never got to see this. She smiled as she wished she could just give in and hold AJ in her arms and know that everything would be fine. AJ awoke and saw Amy looking at him.
"Can I help you?" AJ said with a smirk on his face.
"No smart-butt." Amy said sarcastically. She began to walk over to the kitchen to cook breakfast when AJ grabbed her arm and pulled her on top of him. Their noses were touching and Amy smiled feeling his body against hers.
"I know you like this position." AJ said wickedly. Amy heard the door being unlocked and opened. She jumped up off of AJ quickly and composed herself. Alex walked in with a bouquet of roses.
"Here you go baby." He said handing Amy the roses. "I thought you'd like them. They are a way of saying I love you." Alex leaned in to kiss Amy but she turned away and Alex kissed her cheek.
"Um is something wrong?" Alex said noticing Amy acting uneasy. Amy looked over at the couch to see AJ watching and listening. Alex noticed her gaze and looked at the couch.
"Uh why is the couch made up? Did someone sleep here last night? Speaking of last night. Why did you jump out of my car so quickly?" Alex started to sit down on the couch; right on AJ but AJ got out of the way as fast as he could. AJ made a weird face like 'man watch it.'
"Whew that was closer than I wanted to be to his butt." AJ commented. Amy bursted out laughing at AJ's comment. Alex looked at Amy and Amy caught his stare and automatically stopped laughing.
"You're acting a little weird today. What's up with you?"
"Nothing much." Amy said sitting next to Alex on the couch. AJ enviously watched as Alex embraced Amy and kissed her with his lips. 'I've got to break this up.' AJ thought. 'But how?' AJ went to the bedroom and put on his and Amy's song. He turned it up just enough for Amy to hear it.
"What's that?" Alex said breaking the kiss. "Who's here?" He got up and went to the bedroom. He looked around but saw nothing. Amy looked over Alex's shoulder and saw AJ by the radio with a mischievous grin on his face. Amy shook her head and threw him mean glances like 'quit screwing around.' Alex led Amy to the bed and sat her down.
"I have to talk to you. It's important. The bandmates and I have to go to Europe and do some promo stuff. The problem is we're leaving this afternoon and I won't see you for a month."
"That means the wedding goes on hold, right?" Alex shook his head yes.
"I'm really sorry babe. But I promise once I get back our wedding will be the better than you could have ever dreamed."
"As long as I get to be with you…I could wait an eternity." Amy said.
"Well I have to get going to the airport. Will you meet me there later?"
"Sure." Amy walked Alex out and gave him a quick peck on the lips before closing and locking the door.
"AJ get in here now!" AJ came into the living room slowly like a scared puppy.
"I don't appreciate the little stunts you're pulling AJ. That wasn't funny. He could have thought I was crazy and you could have messed up a lot of things between us. Oh wait I forgot that's what you want to do. Well if you do mess up things between Alex and I then you won't get me. I'll just be forever pissed at you."
"Yeah well Amy do you think I'm happy to see you with him. That I actually like seeing him hold and kiss you when I love you and should be the one with you. He's just a cheap knock off of me anyway. He looks like me, he has the same name as me, and he acts like me…hell he probably kisses like me to. So why not have the real thing. Why not me?"
"AJ quit it! You're not helping me. You leave me for a whole year and you don't expect me to fall in love with someone else. You can't make me choose. We had something in the past but who knows where or how it would work out now."
"Amy I love you. You can't tell me you don't love me." AJ pleaded grabbing Amy's hand and pulling her close to him. "Tell me you don't love me and I'll never bother you again." Amy looked away. She couldn't say she didn't love him because it was a lie but she couldn't tell him that she loved him because she had to stay committed to someone else. What would win? Her mind or her heart. They both were in a constant battle and she couldn't figure out who she wanted more…AJ or Alex.
