Before Play

Remember those bootleg LPs from the early 70s? You know... the ones which came in a plain white cover with a colored photocopy of somebody's line drawing which almost looked like the artist taped on the front? The ones where the artists and songs referenced on the record label itself bore absolutely no relation to what was actually recorded? The ones where each side of the record was just one big track (no spaces between songs)? The ones where the sound of the recording was about the quality of a 7th generation tape?

Well, this is such a relic. But it's not from the 70s. These are outtakes from the Double Fantasy sessions. The only redeeming quality about this LP is that you won't find some of these recordings anywhere else. A couple were aired on the Lost Lennon Tapes radio series, but can't be found on Bag Records' Lost Lennon Tapes series. Many were not aired at all.

So... I don't recommend this to anyone except one who has to have it all! (BTW, the artists listed on the label are "Rickey And The Redstripes.")
