Northern Tiers High Adventure Base
Atikoken, Ontario

In 1992, Troop 225 sent a crew of four youth and two adults to the BSA National High Adventure base of Northern Tiers. There are three bases at which expeditions are launched: Ely, Atikoken, and Bissett. Our crew departed from the Atikoken base in Ontario, Canada, just north of Quetico National Park. The crew members were six of only about 450 scouts and leaders to depart from the Atikoken base that year, which was the Twentieth Anniversary of the Atikoken Base. This seven day, six night expedition earned the six crew members their 50-Miler Award.

The weather was very unpredictable, but we did have several days of gorgeous weather and beautiful sunsets to go with the rain.

One of the favorite activities of several of the crew members was, of course, fishing. As a break from the trail food, we had a meal of walleye and bass one night as two crew members earned their fishing merit badges.
