HANGOUTS! I've tried to organize these under several headings; they are the sites I've found useful, amusing, or just plain cool. Have a look; e-mail me if you find more, and we'll all use this conglomoration of connectivity all the better for it! Computer Resources MarketPRo
Computer Show Schedule
Market Pro puts on a great computer show that sells
discounted stuff (software & hardware) all over the
place. If they come by a place near you, they're worth a
look. Sorry Mac guys...mainly PC stuff here...
AOL Instant Messenger Yes, I still see the monster that is AOL as a horrible thing...but this FREE service is not a bad program...and has the benefit of giving you access to an AOL "perk" without having either an AOL account or the AOL program on your computer. See when any friends with AOL are online, and send a message to them instantly! (Hence...the name!) ICQ "I Seek You" is the cutsie name for this; it is a really great FREE program that lets you know when your friends are online, can get messages back and forth, and even chat R/T...HIGHLY reccomended. My UIN (User Identification Number) is 553407! The Globe Interesting site, but I have to admit, I've not spent a lot of time there. Has the interesting distinction of setting up a web page automatically for every chatter that registers. Not sure if that is good or no... The Park: No Holds Barred Room The Park was my first real place to go on the web for chatting. Oddly enough, in the no-holds-barred room I found more intelligent folks to speak with about politics, literature, and even computer construction. Great place, but like any chat room, a degree of sickos to be tolerated... The
Park: Twenty-Something Room
The Twenty-something room is all right, a few more sickos to
put up with, and a little less substance, but I can't argue
with the wonderful friends I've met there too. Not bad
overall.
You will see these in
the HOODLUMS
page, so get off your cyber butt and go over there!
Just the bizzaro sites I get or see from time to time...look around, I claim no responsibility...and feel free to add a site or two! E-mail me your suggestions! Equipped.Com Hey...because you never know...A "Survival Equipment & Techniques" Web Site. *L* Fractal Cow Studios These funny folks have several good sites, including my personal favorite: BERT IS EVIL! The Onion Satirical site based on a paper that used to be printed in Madison WI. GREAT for the endless afternoons or slow Mondays.. Pythonline The OFFICIAL Monty Python Home Page. Send abuse, be a Silly Organ Donor, buy things, and of course, join the SPAM club! (Best Spam online!)
The Drudge Report An incredible collection of commentary and articles, including links to international news resources and commentators in particular. The Ecola Newsstand This is a great links page to English Language News Media on the Web. Weather.Com Starting out as The Weather Channel Online, this site has become a great resource for forecasts and the like. Storm98.com
You can tell I'm Coastal. This is a wonderful resource for
anyone who either lives on the coast or knows someone who
does. E-mail updates keep you informed about various weather
threats...tailored to your
interest.
555-1212 A great site if you want to look up a long lost friend! Four11.com is an alternative search engine for phones and addresses of lost loved ones. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus is available online for spelling, definitions, and many other useful things. It is really more than your average desk reference, and quite helpful. Planetall is an online community where you can find people who have done or been a part of things you've done or been a part of! Schools, communities, jobs, organizations, or whatever! I'm a member of Space Camp, Alexandria, Citadel, and a few others... ProFusion is about the best search engine I've found. It manages to look on several different conventional engines at once. GeoCities
File manager Kind of Self
Explanatory; GeoCities is a great way to learn HTML and web
site development!
Charleston.NET Good local links; This is a service provided by the Charleston Newspaper, The Post & Courier. UPCHUCK!
The lighter side of Charleston SC, really
rather funny.
The Folger Shakespeare Library Located in Washington DC, there are great things to be seen, exhibits, shops, and at times performances to be seen in the library's 200-seat Elizibethan Theatre The
Shakespeare Theatre This
is another Washington-based Shakespeare organization; they
used to be attached to The Folger, but have since moved and
expanded to become an incredible platform for modern
productions. Most recently I saw Othello with
Patrick Stewart!
Amtrak
I'm still an old-fashioned kind of guy; I love train
travel. Here you can make reservations, explore trip
packages, and find out how to ride the rails in style! GREAT
trips out west...
