Welcome to Mirai's World!

Updated for June!

If you're thinking, "Waitaminnit---'Mirai?' Who or what the heck is a 'mirai?'" Well, I'm referring to this handsome young man here, whose name is Trunks. Be polite and say hello; he's a sweetie. Unless you make him mad, of course. =) Trunks-san is also known as Seinen no Betsu no Mirai, or "Young man from the alternate future." Called Mirai Trunks for short---or, more simply for those of us out there who, like me, know only enough Japanese to curse someone out nicely, Future Trunks. =)

Trunks is one of many characters from a manga, or Japanese comic book, called Dragonball. If you're familiar with Japanese animation, you may have heard of it; the manga was turned into an animated series (anime) that ran for nearly ten years and became the most popular series in the world. It's finally made its way to American shores lately; if you check your local TV listings, you may soon be able to discover the addiction for yourself.

Now, the story of Dragonball is a long one, so for now I think it's best if I refer you on to other and better sources. While I have no plans to create a list of links---there are simply too many DB-related pages out there for me to even attempt to keep track of---you will almost certainly find such a list at one of these other locations. You can also try running a search on "dragonball" using your search engine of choice; one of any number of pages should appear. If you happen to see Curtis Hoffman's 3 Steps to the Edge or the Dragon World among those, that's a good place to start.

If you're into the "look" of Dragonball, there are several good image archives out there; try starting with Wuken's DB Page, Listening Booth, and Image Gallery, newly improved with lots of links to other DB pages. And as you wander around through Mirai's World, you'll find lots of links to other pages here and there.

This page, however, is neither an information center nor an image archive. So, you ask, what is there to make this site worth browsing for me, hmm? Well . . .

Aside from all of these lovely pictures of Trunks-san---which, admittedly, may not be your particular cup of tea---this site has tons and tons of fanfic. Fanfic, you ask? And what, pray tell, is that? "Fanfic" is a short term for fan-fiction. I'll let Trunks-san explain it:

Fan-fiction
(fan' fik'-shun) Also known as fanfic, fan-fic, 'fics, etc. i.e., Fiction written by fans of a particular movie, television series, or other media event, for the reading pleasure of other fans of that event. Fan-fiction often explores aspects of the series not covered by its creators, including "what-if" speculations, continuations of storylines, and in-depth examinations of characters, plots, and events. Quality and type ranges from novel-length to a single page, Pulitzer-prize-level writing to third-grade scrawl, "happily-ever-after" to "everybody dies," "classic" to "crossover" and "alternative," and family to lemon (sexual in content). In other words, maybe good, maybe bad, but a whole lotta fun. ^_^

Now, I've written several Dragonball fanfics, which you can find here, but I am not by far the only fanfic-writing nut out there. On the fanfic page is a complete list of DB fanfic resources, but if you don't feel like clicking that far, I would like to suggest that you check out Katrina Spencer's New Vejiitasei and Arline Lyons' Dragonball Resource Page. There you can find, along with the works of others, Katchan and Arline's various 'fics, all of which are extremely good and highly recommended. =)

So, without further adieu, here's what you can find here:

The quickie version.

Now, before you go, I'd like to acknowledge Wuken, Son Gohan of Son Gohan's DBZ Page and Image Gallery, and Genjuro of Genjuro's Transparent Anime Image Gallery for most of the pictures on these pages, Katchan and Arline for their html help, scans, and general coolness ^_- , and lots of other folks who know who they are. =)

If you have questions, comments, condemnations to the pit from whence I came, or paeans of high praise, please feel free to drop me a note. Give it to Trunks and Goten; whenever they finish playing around, hopefully they'll bring it to me. =) And thanks for dropping by!

Er, and if that didn't work, click here to send me email. =)
