Okay I filled out the form now what?
Once you have filled out the
form you will receive confirmation by e-mail informing you that your site will
be checked within the next week. In the e-mail you will receive the html
code to place onto your page. Until the code is placed on your page your
site will remain in the ring queue where it will be reviewed for the ring
code and the content. If your page is accepted I will add you to
the ring.
Why wasn't my site included in the ring?
There could
be a number of reasons why your site was not inserted into the ring.
The main reasons that your site was not included into the ring are: The ring
code was not put on your page. The URL you submitted was incorrect. Your
site has no David Bowie content. You belong to more than 2 rings already.
What is the ring code that I need to put on my page?
The ring
code is the html code that you see on every page in the ring. It includes
the links to the cgi script which is used to navigate the ring ie. next site, previous site, next
5 etc. Without this code the ring would lose its integrity which is important for us.
The ring pictures are not showing up?
The reason is you have not uploaded the logo to the same directory
as your page. To save the pictures go to the David Bowie Web Ring homepage
and right click on the logo and save it. Then upload it to your
server.
Does the code have to be on the main page?
Yes the code MUST be on your main page, the main page being the URL you
submitted when you joined the ring.
How do I edit my site and where?
If you need to edit any information about your site such as title, e-mail
address etc. go to the edit section to
do this. You will need to know your site id number and your password to do this.
What happens if I don't put the code on my page?
Simply you will not be inserted into the ring. Same thing goes if you
decide to take the code off your page it will be removed from the ring.
I found a site with no ring code on their page
If you find a site with no code on their page please let me know so I
can remove them from the ring. I can try as hard as I want but I won't
be able to catch every page that takes the code off their page right
away but the longer it goes unnoticed the more we all feel the effects
of it.
How do I delete my site from the ring?
If you wish to remove your page from the ring visit the ring
homepage and go to the edit section and enter your id number and password. It
will take you to a editing area and once there click on remove my page,
once you do this your page will be immediatley removed. To join again you
will have to register again.
