Survivor II -- The Rushback?
Which Rush member(s) would like to see as a contestant on Survivor II?:
Neil |
# of votes
9 |
Why?:
Neil:
- Because the power he puts behind those (backward held) drumsticks could be put to effective use with a club as a blackjack! He would truly be the "survivor!"
- he would kick ass,he is a world travler.
- I have no doubt that Neil would end up the sole survivor of the whole ordeal for the following reasons:
All three:
- Neil could probably inform us about every species of plant and animal there, Alex would probably be able to build excellent shelter (with good plumbing), and I have this odd feeling that Geddy would be good at the challenges.
- Because....
None:
- It is a foolish show and we all know Rush are no fools, foolish sometimes, but not actual fools.
Because of the lack of responses to this poll (probably because a lot of people haven't read the story), I may put it up as an ongoing poll on my NRS site in the future.
All choices listed pertain to the story up until the post by Snow Dog on 6/12/00, 6:19:23 pm.

Comments:
- This story is awesome and a blast to contribute to. Kudos to all the fantastic writers who have kept this thing going. LONG LIVE THE NRS!!!
- I LOVE THIS STORY!
- weird and wonderful
- Love ya!
- I've been attempting to outline the entire story and the early plotlines are the hardest to organize because they're all over the map and this happens to be why I consider them the funniest. The more dramatic storylines begin later when events become more linear and logical. All in all a wonderful read. You really get everything thrown at you in this crazy story! I like the "Q infiltrating the Rocinante" section best because of the crazy image of the boys controlling the ship with their respective instruments. Geddy using his Rickenbacker as a missile launcher Neil at his drum station. I chuckle to myself every time I think of it. Also, Q, John Rutsey, and the McKensie brothers make inspired appearances! Lunacy at it's best!
- What can I say? It's been one helluva trip! I'm glad we have kept it fun, exciting, sad, respectful (or at least loving) of Rush.
- I've been in this thing since near the beginning, and I am surely amazed at how this has evolved. Not only is it exciting to write additions to the plot in almost any way I choose, but also to see what humorous/dramatic/horrific/put genre here entries others have put their creativity into. I, like many others, have discovered my fictional writing style and, looking back from the begginning at my own posts, see the evolution that my posts have gone through. It is most definitely, absolutely, posolutely a lot of fun, as is evidenced by its existence for a year and a half. Kudos and kudos again to Catchthefish for getting the ball rolling and all the other contributors for keeping it going. Happy writing! --Snow Dog
- Definitely the most crazy story I have ever read! Let's hope it gets published some day! Here's to many more endless Rush sagas!

Geddy: Solo or Not?
Do you think Geddy should do a solo album?:
Yes |

What do you think a Geddy Lee solo album would sound like?:
- Probably nothing like Rush... could possibly have some jazz/funk elements to it... definitely melodic.
- Goodness
- Probably pretty weird. After hearing Victor I won't be surprised by anything.
- Um, Rush.
- It wouldn't be better than Rush's albums.
- Funkadelic meets Massive Attack.
- A dude trying to betray his brothers.
- Pretty much like the newer RUSH-material.
- Rush of the 80's
- Lee is a great bass player; the album should be good
- It would sound like Geddy. It would have a RUSH texture now and again. It would also be dramatically different! I can't wait!!!!
- Can't even begin to imagine! But I'm sure it will be something very good or unsual.
- It surely would sound good!!!
- Electronica-type, mellowish, HYF-era stuff. More keyboard than bass driven, I would suspect.
- It would be great!
- Similar to Rush but with a more mellow feel to it.
- To paraphrase Robert Fripp, expectation closes our ears to what is happening in the moment.
- Whatever he wants it to as long as it has his amazing bass parts in it
- Probably a bit electronic as he likes to experiment and I would think a little playful. More lighthearted in content then Alex's solo (still loved it).
- Probably completly different than Rush. I think vocals would play a prominant role
- Bassy
- Signals
- Probably a bit different than a Rush project, maybe would be a diverse project that would be somewhat rooted in his influences. Maybe "alternative", it's hard to say, exactly.
- It wouldn't be the same without Neil & Alex.
- I bet it would be experimental. I wouldn't count on it sounding like Rush.
- Umm....nice? Eh, i dunno, sounds like a good idea...but NOT if it means band breaking up solo kinda thing...that'd stink...
- Weird!!!!
- Ethereal
- Well, it wouldn't be as good as a rush song...but good enough
- Funky and grooving... not as ballsy or dark as Alex's Victor
- A mix between Counter Parts and Hold Your Fire with a little of 2112 mixed in. Hopefully nothing like Victor.
- Much like Rush, perhaps a litte more on the light side. More melodic, less crunch.
- Everything that makes Geddy Lee the greatest bassist in existence
- Probably not as heavy as we think.....
- Something alike what he played with Rush, but a bit more personal
- Probably more bright sides and love songs
- Classic rock
- Rock, with a jazz/synth feel
- It would sound like the 1st rush album. With less guitar and drums & more bass and synths.
- Obviously less guitar riffs and solos. More techinally precision. Like Power Windows or something. Damn that album!!!
- Anything but a Rush album!
- Rush, without the other two dudes
- Its will be same as Jim Matheos
- Good
- It wood sound great. It will remind you of Rush just like Victor does. I cant wait.
- It probably won't be half as good as any Rush album.
- In a word, AMAZING!
- Hard to say but I'll bet it would still contain that special magic that only Rush can produce
- Robert Plant with Triumph, except more boring...
