MAN "BURIED" ON THE MOON
Saturday, August 1, 1999
A lipstick-sized vial carrying
28 grams of renowned
astronomer-geologist's, Eugene
Shoemaker, landed on the moon aboard
NASA's Lunar Prospector.
He is the very first human inhabitant
of Earth to be laid to rest
on another Celestial body.
Shoemaker had said before his
death, that the biggest disappointment
in his life was not going to
the moon and banging on it with his
own hammer, but two years after
his death, he finally had his wish.
A Houston company, Celestis Inc.
has cremated and launched into space the
remains of 55 other people including
Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry
and 1960's Drug Guru Timothy
Leary.
