Wiarton Now A Town Without A Willie
"He's Dead"
WThTiThe death of Wiarton
Willie is mourned by,
left to right, his handler
Sam Brouwer, visitor
Doug Kennedy and event co-ordinator
Bill Walker.
Groundhog dies, and his last message? Spring will be early....
Children wept
Parliment mourned
In Wiarton, Mayor Al Given
trudged through the snow-covered
barrens trying to find a
successor.
And Wiarton Willie?
Well the toast of Wiarton
has become the
Ghost of Wiarton.
He's dead.
And that about sums up one
of the more traumatic
Groundhog Days in Canadian
History.
