Paracas National Reserve

The Paracas equivalent of a national park, this is actually a national desert. We visited this reserve on a souped up dune buggy (which is perfectly legal) and in between appreciating the views and learning lots of interesting facts about the local wildlife (including the ever present vultures) we hooned around on the sand dunes.

Nazca

A lot of gold mining goes on in Nazca and this is an example of a high-tech Nazca gold refinery. The men standing on the big rocks, roll them backwards and forwards, grinding the mined rock to dust and releasing the gold.

Nazca Cemeteries

Just one of the many gruesome mummies on display in the cemeteries near Nazca. The people from this area first mummified their dead and then buried them in the foetal position inside a woven basket.

The famous Nazca Lines.
