our story technically starts on the 26th, but our flight didn't leave till midnight so i'll start there. Jason came over after thanksgiving dinner and we watched Annie until time to leave for the airport. We check our bags in and sit around about a half an hour till boarding. Since it leaves after midnight it was a sleepy flight. ner. the lights go out and the entire flight is asleep but me. Im sitting there with my new beenie (note, i lost it the next day in rockfort illinois. ner) on listening to the spice girls and dancing in my seat shaking it around waking up the people behind me. Im looking out the window, waiting for the sun to come out. EVERYONE, even jason, is asleep! damn boring people! i only slept for about 20 minutes. So finally after three hours we land. In minneapolis. Im kinda freaked out cos dor isnt there. its like 2 am at home, i have NO IDEA what her phone number is, so we're basically stuck. And dor isnt there. so we walk up near the entrance and have some breakfast. About 2 hours later jason and i are delirious. Stressed out. Sitting in a little cafe singing dave matthew band to keep our sanity. And finally we're paged. We greet a crying dor. She overslept and felt really badly about it. But it was all good. Things were better now :]
we head back to dor's house and look for Kellie's flight information. We couldn't find it. All dor knew was roughly what time it came in, and kellie's first name. So we go to the airport and search around, and finally have information page "kellie, the tora fan" (he had a big accent) a few times. and sickly, it worked. lol she found us as the tori fan. So dor and i drop her mom off at work and i get to see a bit of st. paul, and we head back to the house to get ready to leave. And we're off.
that is jason dor and kellie packing the car in front of dor's house in minneapolis. We got on the road about 2pm, and we had a nice long haul until we hit our destination of Akron Ohio. I sat shotgun the entire trip and jason and kellie slept a lot of the trip. Dor and i talked a lot, and made a list of songs we WANTED to hear, and tallied songs that we heard repeatedly. You see, this car had no cassette or CD player. It was radio the whole way baby. It got annoying trust me. :]
this trip was so spiritual for me. Just absorbing the clean air, and the chill in the air - although we were expecting it to be like, snowing, and instead there were record highs in the 60's. we got lucky. anyhow, i spent a LOT of the trip absorbing my enviorment. The trees, the highway. Everything. One interesting event before our first stop was this car that dor had a hard time losing. it was in wisconsin - and it was a hunter. There was a huge deer strapped to the top of this man's truck and it was split from ass to..mouth. it was one of the most disturbing things i'd ever seen in my life. Dor was finally able to lose it thank god. We stopped in Madison WI and had dinner - dor's favorite restraunt. Noodles! very yummy. And we had the most orgasmic ice cream ever. We took a picture of us in our big heavy coats outside eating ice cream. it was hilarious. I really liked Madison. Now we were really off for the long haul. We had mcdonalds for lunch and i got a happy meal - thus began my obsession with collection toys for the van. I got the little beatle guy which i ended up giving jessen, and in rockford i got a little sticky hand which is gross and deformed and i re-named it 'sticky finger puss'.
keep in mind i still hadn't slept yet. I'd fall asleep for about 15 min, then i'd wake up for about 4 hours and crash for another 15 minutes. i was actually doing ok. Going through Ohio dor got sleepy so i decided to drive for about 2 hours. Scary. Ive never driven a car that big, or an automatic. but it was an open highway and i sang to myself so it was fun:] There were a few cities we went through that were totally amusing - chippewa falls. I was all, aw, titanic. :] it was really cool to go through chicago, and rockford and southbend were awesome. I started singing the Peaches song in rockford and dor joined in (you know from a leauge of their own?) It was just total fun. In chicago love shack came on and dor and i went nuts. We also found a christmas station so we got to sing carols a lot of the way.
so yes, fun fun. that was a really fun drive. good fun with dor. About 2am, 15 hours later, we arrived in Akron Ohio....
