The first King I ever read and withoubt a doubt the most intense literary experience of my life. All of his material that I've read after this one has left me somewhat disappointed, |
not because they aren't great works, but because nothing has ever come close to doing to me what this book did to me. It scared the hell out of me! Not all at once, by any means, but gradually. It starts with just a touch of uneasiness which builds and builds until you find yourself checking your surroundings after every few pages to make sure everthing is as it should be and that nobody is about to use your head for a practice swing with the ol' roque mallet. The fact that I was only thirteen at the time probably had a bit to do with it, but even as an adult it can still send chills through me. |
