UPGRADE/REPLACEMENT SCENARIO
My printer is broken and I need to replace it!.
Get your broken printer Part Number from Appendix A.
If your printer was a dot-matrix printer for alarms/logs, you should get another dot-matrix printer. It is still the best choice.
If your printer was an old HP PaintJet, you have new choices now. You can either choose a PCL3 printer (HP895Cxi) or a PostScript printer (Lexmark Optra Color 45). The later provides a slightly better quality.
If your old PaintJet was connected to a Comm processor, you might be disappointed for the long time a printscreen takes with the new more sophisticated printers. The best choice is to connect your new PCL3/PostScript printer directly to the parallel port of a 51 station.
If you choose a printer of a different type, I strongly recommend to follow the Delete/Undelete Printer method explained in Appendix J.
