General MIDI Percussion Map
Search Engine
This search engine allows you to determine what sound is assigned to a drum map number or to determine what number to use for a specific percussion sound. Start with the noun name of the percussion sound, not the adjectives describing it or the word "drum". All database entries start with the base percussion name (such as "bass", "tom", "hi-hat" and "cymbal") followed by the adjectives describing it (such as "cymbal ride 1"). This allows you to find all the sound sets for that type of instrument by typing in the base name and using the "find next" button until the end of the database is reached. You also do not have to type in the whole name of an instrument to find it as long as you have the first letters right (for example "cym" would find "cymbal"). However, do not use capital letters in your entry (you will not get any results as the search is case sensitive and the database has no capitals to make it get consistent responses). You must have a javascript capable browser to successfully use this search engine. It has been tested to work with the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape.
Since the numbers overlap between the percussion maps and instrument sound sets, they have been split out
into separate search engines.
