Mac Emulation on UAE!
That's right folks, UAE can be used to run ShapeShifter and Fusion, the world's best and most accurate Mac emulators!
This is the official place for information on UAE and Mac emulation. The first and the best!

Obtaining the necessary files: I am not going to include instructions on hot to use LHA or LZX, you should know this by now. First of all, you need a working copy of WinUAE. The earliest version that supports Picassso96 is WinUAE 0.6.9 Release 12 P96 Beta. I do not recommend this project to someone who is new to UAE, it is fairly complicated and will take some time to complete. You need a copy of ShapeShifter. You are going to need a MacOS bootfile. This is a harddisk file that has MacOS already
installed onto it, that you must tell ShapeShifter to boot from. They are a nicely sized
d/l, but if you look around the web, I think you can find a system 7.0.1 bootfile that is
only 1.5megs.
The hardest to find is the Mac ROM image. I can't give this to you, nor can you get it from someone without doing something illegal. You must own a Macintosh to use the ROMs. **D.O.N.T...E.M.A.I.L...M.E...F.O.R...R.O.M.S*** There is a program included in the ShapeShifter package that will copy the ROMs off of a real Mac.
Setup the necessary files: Starting with Beta 6 of the Picasso editions, Brian King has fixed the
problem with bootfiles on virtual volumes. I now recommend that you NEVER use UAE
hardfiles and ONLY USE VIRTUAL VOLUMES. They are faster, more convenient and just cool. Copy PrepareEmul to your 'sys:c' directory, and modify the file called
StartupSequence in 'sys:S'. 'C:PrepareEmul 1200' should be added by you to the first line
of the file.
Finally, go to the Memory settings and put Mac Memory (KB) to 4000. Cool stuff to notice: Sound emulation works through both layers too. Unfortunately MacOS 8 doesn't work in ShapeShifter yet...
I have not successfully run this emulator yet. I know it can work though. I'll get back to ya!
