Story 1 Emmitt Eats the Reindeer

I was born November 7, 1994. I was a Christmas present for my owners. My first christmas was fun. I was about 2 pounds and really couldn't cause too much trouble. But the next christmas is another story. My owner paints christmas village houses. That year she had a few set up on top of a cabinet. When everyone was gone, I would climb on top of a chair that was next to the cabinet and take one of the reindeer and bite off his tail and nose. The first time I got yelled at and she moved the reindeer closer to the middle of the shelf, but I persisted to get that reindeer as many times as I could. The Christmases after, what was left of the reindeer and the other village pieces were put somewhere else so I couldn't get them.

Story 2 Emmitt vs. the "Birdie"

I'm gonna get you, Birdie!
My owners also own a canary. He use to hang in our living room next to our couch and made a lot of noise! My owners like to go over and talk to him every now and again and it just makes me jealous! I bark and bark at that bird every chance I get, especially when my mom is cleaning the bird cage in the morning. Beware Birdie...If you ever get out of the cage, I'll be there waiting!

Story 3 Emmitt goes to the Vet

Two of my owners work with the kennels at the veternary clinic I go to. I like to go there to see the people they work with, but boy do I hate it when they put me in a cage while they work. I bark and cry for a while until I eventually give up and fall asleep. Even worse than a cage is when I get looked at by the doctors. They have to put a muzzle around my nose. I can take getting a shot, but when they get those nail clipper any where near me... Why can't they just leave my toes alone! That is when the real crying begins!!

Story 4 Scary Sara

Get away from us you scary little girl!

Before I begin, I must explain who everyone is in this picture. Going left to right is Sara, my brother Peanut, and then me. Sara is my owner's friend's dog. She is about half the size of me. She is really scary! She chases me and tries to jump on me. I can't help but hide behind a chair any time I see her. I try to growl but she doesn't seem to be afraid of me. My only weakness is a 2 pound poodle! By the way, I was not happy to get this picture taken with her. You can tell by how my ears are way down and not sticking straight up. They bribed me with honey roasted peanuts!

Story 5 Trick or Treat?

Do we have to where this silly costume?

Here I am with Peanut dressed up for my first Halloween. Peanut was a dragon and of coarse, I had to be a little devil. I didn't like the horns though and took them off right after the picture. Note to other dogs...if they are going to dress you up, make sure you get something out of it, like a walk and plenty of treats!

Story 6 Treat?

Like all dogs, I like to go outside a lot. When I want to go outside, I stand by the door and if no one sees me there right away, I start to cry. When I get outside, I usually like to walk around and do what I need to do. Then I like to bark. I bark at anyone who walks or rides a bike by. My favorite is when one of our neighbors dogs are outside. I bark at them like crazy! Usually, just when I start to bark, one of my owner will yell for me to stop and come back in. I don't listen to them. After a little while they will yell "Emmitt, want a treat?" Now I ain't a dummy. That is when I'll come running! The treats are kept in a closet right by the door. So the minute they take off my leach, I stand by the closet door and stare at it with my cute begging face. Gets them everytime! Lesson for all dogs...Don't wait for them to give you a treat, make them give you one!!

Story 7 Can't Get Me!

When I was just a puppy, I liked to hide underneath things, actually I still do. My favorite place to hide was under one of our living room chairs. No one could get me under there! My owners didn't like it. They were afraid I would get squashed. Now I am too big for the chair, so when someone wants me, but I don't want them to get me, I hide under a bed. If your small, like me, it's great to hide things that you find, but you're pretty sure you shouldn't have.

Story 8 Wake Up!

I, like a lot of other dogs, like to sleep in my owners bed. Every morning, when one of my owners wakes up, I go from room to room and wake everyone else up. I jump up on their bed, run for their face, and give a few good licks. Once they are awake, I like to lay down at the end of the bed and go back to sleep. My job is done!

Story 9 Want to Go for a Ride?

Come on. Let's go for a ride!

I love to go for rides!! Anytime anyone says that magic word, "ride", I get all excited, jump around, bark, and jump up on a stool we have right by the door. Normally, when I go outside, I have to be put on a leach because I like to chase people that walk by, but when they say ride, they can trust that I will go straight for the car!

Story 10 Funny Ears!

When I was a puppy, my ears didn't stick up, but laid down like Peanut's. As I got older, my ears slowly raised up, one at a time. You can see by the pictures above, my right ear stuck up first and finally my left ear caught up. My family thought I was so silly having one ear up and one ear down, not to mention they were huge compared to my head! They also laugh at me when I lay my back legs out, which I still do today. What can I say, it's comfy!

Story 11 MY Big Bone!!!

This bone is MINE!

One of my favorite toys in my big bone. This bone is almost as long as I am. I just love to carry it around and not let anyone touch it, it's mine!!! If one of the humans try to take it from me, I growl and go running under the bed, as you can see from the picture above. Also, if someone just says "big bone" and I don't have it, I will go look for it and take it under the bed. It's mine!

Story 12 Outside!

Well, the weather's getting nice. There's no more snow. That could mean only one thing...summer's almost here!! To Peanut and me, this means we want to go outside ALL the time! We just love to lay outside in the nice warm sun and relax, well until someone walks by which then I can't help but bark. So, to welcome summer and it's nice warm weather, I have decided to give my home page a new look with a grassy background. Happy Summer to everyone!!

Story 13 Where's the Puppy?

Want to play with me?

This weeks story is about my favorite toy in the world...my puppy. I love to have my owners throw him down our hallway so I can run after and get him. I also can throw him up in the air all by myself when I get real excited. All my owners have to do is say "Emmitt, Where's the puppy?" and I go looking around the house for him. This puppy is really important to me because my owner won him for me at a restaurant that also has games and prizes. After I bit him so much that his stuffing was coming out, my owner went back to the restaurant and got me another one that was exactly the same so I wouldn't know that the other one was gone. I did the same to that second puppy and am now on my third one. Wish me luck that he'll last awhile. I don't think my owner will go back for a forth puppy:)

Story 14 Bath Time

I hate baths!

I really hate getting a bath! Whenever someone just says the word "bath", my ears fall down and I run and hide. I get my baths in a sink that is in our basement. I like to shake my fur a lot so the person who is giving me a bath gets wet too. Once the bath is over, I run around the house like a chicken with it's head chopped off. I rub all over to get myself dry. After the bath, the worst happens...the brush comes out. I hate being brushed even more than the bath. Sometime when my hair gets pulled, I try to bite the brush. Why can't they just leave me alone.

Story 15 I Didn't Want This to Happen!

This just happened last week and luckily there's no picture! Here's the story... I was outside doing what I needed to do, when my doo doo got stuck on my tush. Every dog knows this means bath and if you read my last story, you know how I feel about baths. I decided to hide under a bush near the door to our house. When my family came out to get me, they followed my leash to the bush and noticed right away why I was there. I quickly growled in hope that they would leave me alone. They came back with a hose and attempted to spray my backend. They let me back into the house where I quickly ran under the bed to hide. I stayed there a little while when I heard the sound of the box of treats being shook. Slowly, I crept out and ate a couple treats when I was grabbed and taken down to the basement for a bath.

Story 16 Happy Birthday, Emmitt!

Happy Birthday, Emmitt!

This was my 2nd birthday party! Peanut, mom, and our friend, Katie came to my party. We had angel food cake cupcakes and even lite a candle and sang to me. I got bones and dog treats, too!
