Tobey
Full Name: Tobey
Nicknames: Tobey-o, Tobias, Tobasco
Quirks: Had a 3-step method for waking someone up
1. She'd shove her nose up yours
2. Next she'd wash your face, thoroughly
3. If all else failed, she'd sit down on your
face. Needless to say, we learned pretty
quickly to wake up before step #3!
History:
Tobey was my first "rescue case." I was left at church
one day, so I walked home. On my way, I passed a corn-
crib when this tiny bundle of white fur ran out to me.
She was so sweet! The only thing that I could figure
out was that someone must have dumped her. There were
only corn fields around. I took her home but my parents
said that we couldn't keep her. They took her back to
the corncrib.
The next morning,my sister rode over to see if she was
still there and came home, crying, "Mom, she tried to
follow me home!"
Between my sister's tears and my own from the night
before, Tobey came home to stay. It was summer and I was
still asleep when I felt a plop on my belly. "You win,"
my mom said.
Tobey won Easy over within a week. It was funny to
watch them play! Tiny little Tobey acting fierce and
Easy being as careful as he could be with her! She was
barely bigger than his head!
As she grew, it was obvious that Tobey had some Sia-
mese blood. As you can sort of see, she grew up to be
absolutely beautiful! Her temperament was regal and
calm, ever so loving! Life was sweet with Easy & Tobey
to brighten it!
After I'd moved away from home, I'd returned for
visits and there was always Tobey lovin' to look forward
to! The time I stayed with my folks while recuperating
from a hospital stay is what stands out in my mind.
I spent a lot of time on their couch and Tobey was
never far away. She seemed to realize that I wasn't
feeling well, so she either slept on my chest or on my
legs. She spent every night with me that I was there,
making healing so much better!
Tobey crossed in 1988 at the age of 17 due to kidney
failure (liks will be provided, soon). I'll always
remember you, baby, doing your best heal me in your own
special way. I love you!
