Easy Rider
Full Name: Easy Rider
Nicknames: Ease, Easle
Quirks: Loved to ride draped around my shoulders like
a living stole.
History:
Easy's been gone since 1987 but his memory is so
clear to me! I was a 'dog person' until he came along!
Don't get mad at me, dog lovers! I still love dogs, too!!
My dad ran a gas station in the dim but not dead year
of 1974. It was there that Easy made his debut into our
lives. He wandered into the station and kept returning
every day until my dad decided to do something for him.
Dad's idea was to bring him into town and drop him off
in a nice neighborhood in hopes that someone would take
the kitten in. Easy, however, had other plans. When Dad
thought he'd found a good place, Easy jumped up on the
dashboard and stared my dad down. Dad didn't have the
heart to dump Easy, so he brought the 4 mo. old baby home.
Easy had really liked the ride home so he became Easy
Rider. Out of the six family members, Easy picked me to
spend most of his time with. Needless to say, he won me
over quickly. He studied with me, perched on my buns if
I lay on my tummy and kept my legs warm at might. He was
playing with a licorice whip that I had one day, until he
realized that it had flavor! Of course, he ate it.
Through the years until his death (natural), he always
remained my kitty. Even after I adopted Beau (see The
Older Generation) and Joli (see Joli Bebe), he was hurt
for a little while but always remained true to me. After I
left home for the first time, he greeted me with his usual
charm & grace with a little excitement mixed in (it wouldn't
do to show too much!) when I came home to visit.
I miss you, ol' Ease! You have special corner of my
heart and I look forward to the day when I'll see you
again! Hang on, Big Guy! I'll be there to reunite with you
someday! I love you!
