Fuzzball
Full Name: Fuzzball
Nicknames: Fuzz, Fuzzy-butt
Actual B-day: August 1, 1991
Crossed: September 1993
Quirks: Loved water, territorial with people about
"her" places but not with the other cats.
History:
Fuzzball arrived with Whiskers (see The Older Genera-
tion) when my friend was looking for a cat-friendly
place to live. She was also abandoned right along with
Whiskers when the lady started having kids & didn't want
her cats anymore. This also, by the way, happened around
the same time frame, involving the same individual as
Midnight's, Frankie's & Ernie's stories.
Needless to say, if ever I need help where my cats are
concerned, I won't be asking this lady again! I appreciat-
ed her sympathy over Midnight's passing but the rest is
inexcusable to me!
A little more history for you, Fuzzball was Chester's
(see Fresca & Chester) sister. She was one of the most
beautiful kitties I've ever seen! She was a long haired,
dilute tortie who shared her brother's eyes. She was
also very sweet but had a bit more attitude than her
brother. This attitude was reserved for those of us who
dared to be in a spot that she wanted!
One of my favorite memories is the day my nephew spent
the night. He was in the spare bedroom when Fuzz showed
up at the door! She was upset! She wouldn't go into the
room at all as long as he was there. Instead, she stood
in the doorway and hollered at him until he left the
room!
Fuzzball was also a bathroom kitty. Anytime I took a
bath, she had to be in there. She would pace around the
tub surround, stopping every once in a while to play with
the water. If I were taking a leisurely soak, she'd
sit on my chest and purr. No matter what, when I was
done, she'd get into the tub and pace around whether
water had drained or not! At night, she'd wait for
Ricochet to finish his snuggling, then approach for
for her turn.
The next summer was horrible for fleas! There was
a lot of traffic in and out of the house and it seemed
like we'd never get rid of them. No matter what we tried,
they'd just keep coming back! The poor cats were miser-
able! We tried to keep them treated, too. I wish Advantage
was available, then. (See Links for info about fleas)
I had no idea that there was even such a thing as flea
induced anemia. When Fuzzball collapsed in the litter
box, I thought it was the heat. It was my sister, Tammy
who told me about flea anemia. Still, I called the vet
(not the one I have, now) and discribed her symptoms.
They told me that if she wasn't any better in a day or
two, to get back to them. In the meantime, I was to
make sure she ate, shampoo her again and give her vita-
mins. This doctor said that he'd never heard of flea
anemia.
Later, while I was gone, my roomie took Fuzz in to
the vet for me. When I got back, I was greeted with the
news that Fuzzball had been sent on her way. I didn't
even get to say goodbye!
The guilt over you, Fuzz will always be with me! I
feel like I failed you when you needed me most! If I had
known then what I do now, you'd still be here to march
around the tub and play with the water. Please forgive
my ignorance! I'll always love you, sweetie! I miss you
horribly!
