The First Confederate
Battalion

There was an actual 1st Confederate Battalion which
was formed from troops of Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama in Tennessee
in 1862 and was sent to Davis' Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia in 1864,
eventually to surrender at Appomattox in 1865. This present organization,
which was formed during the 125th Anniversary reenactment of Gettysburg,
does not represent that specific unit, but rather a generic Army of Northern
infantry battalion of 1863-65 at reenactments and living history events.
The Battalion accepts both units of at least five members and individuals
residing along the Central Eastern Seaboard for active and authentic reenacting
in one of our already established companies. The Battalion stresses authentic
uniforms, weapons, camping, tactics, and experience. If not a member of
another unit, we can match you to the unit near you.
