GRENDA GROUP - DANDENONG, CHELTENHAM, FRANKSTON, OFFICER & ROSEBUD

The Grenda group is made up of 5 separate companies spread out in the South Eastern area of Melbourne, totalling approximately 300 buses. The companies are Cardinia Transit in Officer, Grenda's Bus Service in Dandenong, Moorabbin Transit in Cheltenham, Peninsula Bus Lines in Frankston and Portsea Passenger Service in Rosebud. Peninsula and Portsea operate as a joint fleet. All companies operate track services together with charter and school bus services. Grenda's Bus Service also operate school buses for the disabled and some  V/Line services to Cowes .. Pictured left is (No.180) of the Cardinia Transit fleet, a Mercedes Benz 0405NH low floor bus with Volgren bodywork.

Photographed in Collingwood was (No.59) of Grenda's Bus Service doing the rounds of the  shopping tour circuit..  This coach is a Volgren bodied Volvo B12 and is one of a pair that are used for 5 star charter work.

  Peninsula Bus Lines also has a similar pair of coaches and Cardenia Transit has a pair of Scania K124's with the newer Volgren coach body.

Presented here is the standard floor height version of the Mercedes Benz 0405 with Volgren bodywork. Throughout the entire Grenda Group, Volgren bodies are the norm as this bodybuilding company is also a member of the group, and Volgren bodywork is also very popular with many of Melbourne's other bus operators as well. The choice of chassis manufacturer varies throughout the Group companies fleets and  includes Volvo, Mercedes Benz, Scania, M.A.N, Isuzi, Austral, Elwood and Hino.

Seen at Gundagai in New South Wales on its way to the 2000 Bus and Coach Show in Sydney was (No.63) of Peninsula Bus Lines, a Mercedes Benz 1418. This  is a school charters and school run bus  and boasts large underfloor luggage bins which are very useful for this kind of operation..
