Medic 4

Medic 4 was officially put out of service at 12:01 AM on July 1, 2001.

Over the years Medic 4 has provided lifesaving care to thousands of residents and visitors of  the Hazleton Area.  The idea of providing advanced pre hospital care to the people of the Hazleton Area was that of  Dr. John Fields and the Mountain City Lions Club of Hazleton. After much planning, organizing and soliciting Medic 4 became a reality.  To these people the we owe a debt of gratitude.

Its first call was on July 4, 1982, a trauma arrest. Since that time M4 has responded to approximately 95000 calls for assistance. The staff has also done numerous hours of community education and public relations in the area.  Medic 4 was staffed with Paramedics, EMTs, Healthcare Professionals (RN) and Physicians. The Unit served as a training site for the paramedic program at the Luzerne County Community College.

I, as the Webmaster of this site, started with Medic on October 29, 1984. Over that time period I had the honor of working with many talented individuals.  Many times pre-hospital personnel do not get the praise that they deserve. My heartfelt thanks goes out to every one of these people.  I know that that when Medic 4 closes the current and former staff members will know that they have made a difference in the lives of many people.

It has been a pleasure to maintain this web site over the  years and I will continue to maintain this site as tribute to all the staff of Medic 4 and the many lives that it has effected.

                                                                                     Sincerely,

                                                                              Joe  Shott RN,  EMT-P
