So you're asking yourself, "Who is this great looking guy?" You've plugged his name into your search engine of choice and made your way here. Wise decision. Well, let me tell you ... Scott is a wonderful actor and a fine man. This page is dedicated to all his amazing roles and the ones yet to come. |
Scott captured my attention with his perfect portrayal of Newt Call in the television series Lonesome Dove. He brought life to a character that many knew from Larry McMurtry's Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name. Finding that I enjoyed his acting so much, I decided to find out all I could about the actor and the man. Now I'm sharing what I've discovered with you, and since you're here you must think he's terrific too! Read on ... |
How's this for publicity? If you're out cruising in LA, swing down Pico toward Beverly Hills and enjoy the view! This billboard was at the entrance to 20th Century Fox!
If you didn't go quick you probably missed it because the bad news was true. Harsh Realm was cancelled on Monday, October 25th. The AP reported a story from the LA Times stating that HR will be replaced with movies until November when "Who Wants To Be A Millionare" began.
We know you, the SB Army are as disappointed as we are. We've heard that Chris Carter is fighting to save the show. And with him the SB Army joined forces and wrote to all the exec's we could get an address for. I think it paid off! This is currently up on the FX Programming - Press Room Page!
FX PICKS UP HARSH REALM
Deal Includes Six Never-Before-Seen Episodes
Series Debuts in March as Special Event Programming
Pasadena, CA - January 10, 2000 - FX has closed a deal with Twentieth Television for the exclusive television rights to the science fiction series Harsh Realm, which the network plans to debut in March, announced Chuck Saftler, Vice President, Programming, FX Networks. FX has purchased the rights to all nine episodes of the Chris Carter series. While only three episodes of the program aired on FOX, the deal includes the rights to air six never-before-seen episodes.
"The acquisition of Harsh Realm gives FX a unique programming opportunity," said Saftler. "We consider this a terrific deal because six of the nine episodes will be orinigal to FX. It is also special because it comes from Chris Carter."
In Harsh Realm, the military develops a virtual world where they can simulate combat missions. When a fresh-faced young recruit is ordered to terminate a high-ranking officer that has gone AWOL in this world, he discovers that the inhabitants of the virtual world are all too real, and a threat to the outside world.
After seeing the horrors of war in Sarajevo, Lt. Thomas Hobbes, played by Scott Bairstow (Party of Five), is finally ready to settle down with his fiancee, Sophie. But the military has one more assignment for Hobbes: test out the newest in military combat training - a top secret computer simulation known as Harsh Realm. Inside Harsh Realm, Hobbes immediately finds himself fighting for his life, forming an uneasy alliance with a virtual character, Mike Pinnochio. But as he pursues his mission - beating his hightest scoring player, Omar Santiago - Hobbes begins to realize that Harsh Realm is more than just a game. And what's worse: he's trapped inside his world, which is without rules and without mercy.
Along with Bairstow, Harsh Realm co-stars D.B. Sweeney (Mike Pinnochio) and Terry O'Quinn (Omar Santiago). The supporting cast includes Samantha Mathis (Sophie Green), Max Martini (Lieutenant Mel Waters), Rachel Hayward (Florence) and Sarah-Jane Redmond (Inga Fossa).
Scott has the lead in Chris Carter's new FOX series Harsh Realm. After seeing the horrors of war in Sarajevo, Scott's characer Lt. Thomas Hobbes is finally ready to settle down with his fiancé Sophie (Samantha Mathis). But the military has one more assignment for Hobbes: test out the newest in military combat training - a top secret computer simulation known as Harsh Realm. Although Carter states he has changed the story, he says the comic is a "leaping off point". The original story can be found at the Official Harsh Realm Comic Page. James D. Hudnall is the original creator of the 6 episode HR with Andrew Paquette as artist. In an interview Hudnall said he had a dream about the story and after a shower had the comic series worked out in his head. He has many other interesting projects as well. Follow the links on the Official site to sample some of them.
Scott has a small part in the film Mary Jane's Last Dance with Meredith Monroe (Dawsons Creek) and Taye Diggs (GO). Scott has said, "It's not my movie." in response to the size of his part. He will probably not be part of the promotion of the film. It's said to be about two extremely opposite college students who are teamed up for a class project. The MGM-UA movie began filming March 29th in Wilmington, North Carolina is set to be released February 2000. Director for MJLD is Zoe Clark-Williams (When Autumn Leaves, Men) is working with Producer, Frank Marcuso,Jr. (Species, Cool World, the Friday The 13th's) on this project.
Updates will be reported as soon as they come in!
Scott was on MTV news program "1515" the week of Feb, 22nd. He and the rest of the "Party of Five" cast enjoyed a live performance from R.E.M. at The Palace in Los Angeles. Scott was briefly interviewed, he teased castmate Paula Devicq about "really liking" lead singer, Michael Stipes. He was also asked his thoughts on Marilyn Manson's engagement. Scott quipped that "Marilyn should wear white" and "He could get contacts with little wedding bells on them. That would be cool." He looked fun in a beret worn backward. The R.E.M. episode will air April 28th.Just prior to the R.E.M. performance some of the "PoF" cast taped personal messages to Donnie and Marie who weren't able to accept their invitation to the concert. Scott once again showed his sense of humor when he told Donnie how sad he was that the next day was his last as a cast member and he wouldn't be able to babysit Donny's kids anymore. These cast messages were aired on the March 2nd "Donny & Marie Show".
Scott's ABC movie of the week "My Last Love" aired January 15th. Let me just say OMIGOSH! He did a fabulous job! The entire movie was great, Nancy Travis and the little girl were perfect. For those of you who missed it, it was about a woman dying of cancer and her daughter who move back to CA and she falls in love with our man 'Michael Blake', a "buff surfer". I will be doing a full page on this one with FABULOUS photos thanks to my amazing friend Linda Barth. I'll work hard, check back soon!

This jazzy Al Jolson tune is called "You Made Me Love You." Scott is a really big Jolson fan. It was during this song that Jolie first went "On Bended Knee", because he had an ingrown toenail. (Interesting but quirky fact, huh?) I enjoyed this piece, hope you do to. I found this on the Al Jolson Homepage: Home of the Worlds Greatest Entertainer.
Many thanks to Hollywood Online, the Animation Factory and Andy's Art Attack for all their hard work.
