Junior Firefighters

The Alert Fire Company runs a junior firefighters program. This program is for young adults ages 12 - 17 who want to learn about firefighting. We have been running this program for a number of years now, and many of our present active members, were previous members of the juniors. The junior firefighters meet twice every month. One time for a meeting and one time for training. There are various other dates that the juniors meet for practices, parades, shows etc. This program is only for well motivated individuals and is not for everyone. The junior firefighters do many of the same training activities as regular firefighters, except not to the same extent. The juniors can be a very fun and rewarding program if you are committed to it. Although the juniors does require time, school work always comes first. The junior advisors will always encourage junior members to put school first. Once a junior has been a member for at least a year, and reaches the age of 17, they then become eligible to join the regular fire dept.
