The Hatchery
You are standing in a large cave dusted with hot sand on its bottom. Off to the right, on a great mound of sand, is a large multi-colored egg. In the middle is a small blue egg. As you turn away you see the blue egg start to crack. After a long struggle, a yellow reptile pops out of the egg and starts chripping.

A girl steps in front of you, carrying a folder and a bucket of meat. Behind a wary wyvern walks, looking curously at the new hatchling. When the girl looks away, the wyvern sticks it's head into the bucket and starts to eat the meat. The girl looks down and starts to scold the wyvern, taking it's head out of the bucket.
Mjast"Mjast, that's for the hatchling. I already fed you," she turns to you, "hello, I am Mari. I look after the eggs that lay here until they hatch, and the hatchlings until they can take care of themselves. Mjast, the wyvern, was the first egg to hatch. She was won during a contest at Tyralchia. We also were given this award."
She pulls a piece of paper out of her folder:
"The blue egg that just hatched is a Scrimlan egg which was found in Chiasmatan and brought here. A Scrimlan is a small animal, about the size of a cat. This Scrimlan's name is Makic. Since she just hatched she'll be very hungry and I have to feed her. But before you go, one more thing."
Mari pulls out another paper, juggling the bucket of meat and folder, and shows it to you.
"We found a unicorn nest and were given one of their eggs. It's the large purple-pinkish-blue one. Although it looks intact, Mai, the unicorn inside, has already hatched, and is living in the valley. With all these new babies coming in, we're going to have to find someone to help me, especially since I hope to Impress a Pern Dragon. Oh you didn't know I'm from Pern? Just wait outside, and I'll tell you my story."
You nod, and exit the cave.
