SHIPLEY MODEL RAILWAY SOCIETY
 Membership details
The Club was founded in 1978 and has approximately 45 members drawn from towns across Yorkshire including Keighley, Otley, Ilkley, Harrogate, Guiseley, Horsforth, Brighouse and Bradford.
Naturally, as a model railway club, the interests of the members are varied. Layouts range from British set between the 1920s and today, European and North American.
Past layouts have included models of the real stations at Tebay and Evercreech Junction.
Our home is the top floor of Baildon Recreation Centre where we have two spacious clubrooms which include a separate kitchen and library. We also have a storage room. We meet on Tuesdays from 7pm to 10pm, however members have access during the centres normal opening hours.
Our aim is have fun enjoying our mutual hobby and we welcome anyone wanting to join us who wishes to do the same, whatever skills or experience he or she may have. If you have some experience we would like to benefit from your skills, if you are just starting in the hobby we can answer your questions. We all learn from each other and together we build and run layouts that, because of lack of space, times and perhaps funds, we could never achieve alone at home.
Benefits include access to the clubs library and discounts on model railway goods from Frizinghall Model Railways.
For the clubs 21st anniversary an evening special train was run on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.
Cranford No.2 is seen running round at Bolton Abbey station on 7 September 1999. A buffet was held in the Station.
The carriages used were the vintage pair owned by Stephen Middleton, the part of the interior of one of the carriages is shown above.
