THE FORCES INVOLVEDIII. - FOREIGN INTERVENTION FORCES |
This page will give you a quick rundown of the foreign intervention forces operating in Soeliland; a UN contingent, an American intervention force, a British expeditionary force and a French contingent all have found their way into the Soelilandian quagmire. For forces from Soeliland see here, for private military contractors see here.
United Nation Operations for the Consolidation of Soeliland - UNOCS |
Amid the quagmire of South Sardonia there is also a UN blue helmet force with a Chapter 6 mandate. Originally put in place in order to separate the warring factions and to provide humanitarian support to the civilian population, it has in the past proved to be utterly incapable of actually fulfilling its function. Observers see the poor equipment as one main reason of its failure, particularly the lack of armoured vehicles being often mentioned.

The force, which is mainly composed of units from an Asian UN member state lacking in training but not in courage is currently under the command of an officer from a first world member state who has some very peculiar ideas about what exactly a Chapter 6 mission should be about. While there has been no change of the mandate so far, the UN forces' commander managed to get a small group of professional military contractors hired as a personal bodyguards for himself and his staff.
United States Task Force "Payback" |
The support PLAoSS continues to offer to certain terrorist groups has resulted in a US task force appearing on the scene. Although numerically inferior, they can field some of the most modern equipment Soeliland has ever seen (among it some daunted Apache gunships).

Usually, the US forces try to go after terrorists operating with the PLAoSS, though supporting the DRS is apparently US policy as well.

Unfortunately, when it comes to decision-making, often the chain of command does not, uhm, seem to be on par with the quality of the equipment at hand, which routinely results in some quite embarassing situations...
British Expeditionary Force "Fythforce" |
The not exactly tiny number of British residents in Soeliland has resulted in a British military presence which is mainly concerned with protecting the live and property of British citizens; recent experiences have shown that this is actually quite often necessary...

Though by and large a light infantry force, every now and then they manage to get tank support as well. Of all infantry in Soeliland, British forces are generally considered to be the most capable.

French Intervention Force |
Recently, French forces have been spotted in some parts of Soeliland. As the French government currently denies official involvement into the affairs of Soeliland, little can be said either about the exact composition of the French force or about its mission.
