IPMS Singapore 3rd Anniversary on 2nd December 2001 Report
This event started off when the first member walking through the Meeting room doors. The Committee members did an awesome job with the layout and refreshments. Our Anniversary was not only just Food & Drinks and models but we had a few other events, like our infamous (pasar malam style) swap meet, Lucky Draw & our 1st Mini Modelling Exhibition.
Below you see pictures plus its captions. The witty captions are just some funny remarks only and not the actual thing. I'm sick of writing serious reports …..

"How to mend a broken Sherman"….Suresh was trying to do damage control on his Sherman.

click here to enlarge Here we have 2 of Singapore's most prolific Armour modellers…. Dinesh "Schwere Jagdpanzer Ausf D" and Nigel "Modelling Production Line" Cham. Both of them are trying out if they can be real catwalk models other than just fiddling with scale models.
The first row of some beautiful works by our members.

click here to enlarge Above you see, Bernard Cher's 3 scale models. By the way, Bernard was our Mini Modelling Exhibition organizer. His Diorama model "End of the War" [on the right] was one of the People's Choice Award winners. This simple yet outstanding diorama also garnered the Gold medal at last year's Minicon 2000 in Kuala Lumpur. Not to mention Best Tamiya Vehicle category too.
Our only unpainted exhibit… hhmmm someone should have told Dinesh that it's is an exhibition for finished models. Anyway, from the looks of it, I see only the turret as the only kit part. What a sick boy? J This model will be featured as an article in the new magazine call AFV Modeller from England. It will be in Issue #2. This is probably the best AFV modeling magazine around. Looks like the Singapore modellers are showing the world what we are made of.

The IPMS Committee's 2 silent heroes - Russell "Crowe" Koh [Our Treasurer] & Edward "Ed" Lim [Our Membership Liaison Officer]. Both were manning the membership renewals & New members, Lucky draw & Swap meet registrations.

By the way, this Event was handled at the Teck Ghee Community Club. Thanks to the Youth Executive Committee and its Management for letting us use their rooms for over a year now.
Roll Call - "Platoon, from the right SOUND OFF!!!! Man, no discipline at all" Kidding only. The official start of our anniversary by the Society's President, Sudhesh Nair.

click here to enlarge "You in the Black T-Shirt… Don't duck!! I said it's not what the club can do for you but what you can do for the club." But seriously, Sudhesh was just informing the members the programme for the day and what to expect today.
Eric Phan, The Society's Vice President is praying to make sure that none of the members would fall asleep during his Year 2002 Schedule update.

Ok, now I've come to the end of this report. All I can say is that this was the most fun gathering our club has had in years. The committee will want to have more of such events. Just one last word, the committee would appreciate if more members would come forth and contribute to any events and ideas. Your models are also welcome into our new website, www.ipms.org.sg. Please email your pictures in jpeg/gif format to webmaster@ipms.org.sg

Finally, I personally would like to thank everyone who made this anniversary a resounding success. Happy Modelling.
