Arthur Miller Rutherford never married. Arthur died at the Western Hospital, Toronto. He took a paralytic stroke and died hours later. He was educated in Owen Sound and as a young man took an active part in sports. He was a crack "home player" on the Owen Sound lacrosse team back in the early nineties. He apprenticed in the printing trade with his father, and became an expert on high class typography and published the "International Art Printer" Returned to Owen Sound in l9l2 and became superintendent of the Daily Sun Times mechanical department. In l9l6 he enlisted with the Army Medical Corps and served overseas. He was brought back to Owen Sound where services were held at the home of his brother, Dr. A.B. Rutherford.
