Herding Diary - Herding Trials

Sheep

On September 8-9 21, 2001 the Canadian Shetland Sheepdog Association held four CKC Herding Trials at the Campbell farm in Richmond Hill, Ontario. On Saturday morning under judge Sue Mesa, Spice passed Herding Tested. He passed Herding Tested again that afternoon under Gina McDonnell. Two passing scores are required for a Herding Tested title.

I moved Spice up to Herding Started for the Sunday trial eventhough I didn't think that we were quite ready. I was very pleased with Spice's performance all things considered. We got 71/100 and needed 75/100 to qualify. We would have qualified if it wasn't for some handlers errors (I thought that Spice had done something that was a disqualification but it wasn't). Got some nice comments from the judge (Sue Mesa from Berryville, VA) and other competitors. I only entered Spice in the first three trials.
