Time to spare?

We know how difficult it can be to find the time to study for an exam, especially after a full day’s work.  We also understand that you may be worried by the new subject matter and all the legal language and technical jargon that goes with it.

The two-day ethics & law exam workshop is presented over a weekend.  It’s designed to save you time and give you an advantage by presenting the subject matter in a way that makes it interesting and easy to understand.  Difficult concepts are clarified with simple examples.  Practical advice on answering exams is given.

The subject matter is presented in an interactive manner and students are encouraged to ask questions and offer their own comments (if they wish).

Participants receive workshop materials.

Lunch is not provided; however, participants will be given a break for lunch on their own.

Topics include:

Overview:  Overview of the regulation of the profession.  How do Law and Ethics relate to each other, and when does each apply to a particular fact situation?

Engineering Law: Topics include torts, contracts, the legal system, business organizations, legal duties of engineers and professional liability, limitations of liability, definitions, etc, etc.

Engineering Ethics:  Topics include the Professional Engineers Act (role of PEO, governance of the profession, licenses, etc.), Professional Misconduct and Incompetence, Discipline, Code of Ethics, etc, etc.

Answering Exam Questions:  Tips on how to answer the Professional Practice Exam effectively.

Old PEO Exams: Two complete PEO Exams from previous sittings will be taken up in class.
