I wish they could do this in Bangledesh
sit here in the silent and write
with the World Series
as their biggest worry
with forty dollar pants
and four hundred dollar jewelry

I could feed a family with my shirt for a week
I could vaccinate a village with my shoes
yet if you asked me for help
I wouldn't know what to do

What is it like
to draw water from a sewer
what is it like
to feed your three year old powdered manure
is this the Ameican Way
to let three billion live
on less than a dollar a day

the only thing worse than not loving
is hate
but on days like today
they seem like different keys
to the same gate
