Do you listen to yourself
Never live for someone else
Do you like the way you feel
Nothing hurts when no one's real
She wants to shake this scene
Yeah she wants to shake with me
She's not looking for the holes in all the lies
He felt the sun beating down on his skin. Something warm and cuddly
was
wrapped in his arms and Jason pulled the object closer. As he slowly
awakened his senses became more and more alert. He soon realized the
warm cuddley object in his arms was a woman. Flashes of last night
came
rushing at him and he realized that the woman was Carly.
He let out a light groan of regret and allowed his eyes to flutter open.
Carly
was curled in his arms, their legs were tangled together. Clothing
was all over
the room and Carly and Jason were positivley nude in each others arms.
There was no blanket or sheet over them. Nothing.
Carly shifted in his arms. She pulled herself closer to Jason and burried
her
face deep in his chest. Jason wasn't sure what to do, so her just began
to
smoothe her tangled mane. Carly let out a soft moan of appreciation
and
sowly opened her eyes. When she saw a strong male chest she let out
a
small gasp and sat straight up. All feelings of sleepiness were long
gone.
She looked into Jason's eyes. They both seemed very uncomfortable and
Carly's gaze finally noticed that Jason was nude. She than followed
Jason's
gaze down her own bare body. She quickly reached for something to cover
herself with but nothing was within her reach.
Suddenly she realized that her head was pounding and the quick motions
were not helping. A wave of nausea, half due to her massive hang over
and
half due to the fact that whole situation was positivley sickning,
washed over
her. Her hand flew to her mouth as she jumped off the bed and ran into
the
bathroom, slamming the door behind her.
Jason sat there stunned for a moment and than a moment of sympathy hit
him
as he heared her get sick. He slowly moved to get dressed. His head
hurt,
but it was nothing he couldn't deal with. When he was finally finished
dressing
he gathered Carly's clothes and sat on the bare bed. After a few moments
he
finally heared her finish getting sick and than the water started running.
After
a few seconds he got up and walked toward the door. He lightly knocked
and called out "Carly, I have your clothing."
The door slighlty opened and Carly's tiny hand poked it's way through.
Jason
handed her the clothing and Carly quickly pulled her hand back. After
a few
minutes, Carly slowly emerged from the bathroom. She hesitantly hung
back.
Her eyes wandered around the room, carefully avoiding his gaze.
Jason cleared his throat and took an awkward step toward her. "Carly...."
"Jason, no." Carly interrupted, she knew what was coming, the big "it
was a
mistake" speech. She wouldn't be able to bear it. "I apologize. I was
drunk
and upset and you had been drinking, lets just forget about it. Alright?
Please, lets just forget it."
Jason studied her face for a minute before he slowly nodded his head
in
agreement. He had been having feelings for Carly that he just didn't
understand for some time now, but he knew it wasn't smart to complicate
things. "Yeah, sure."
Their eyes caught in another heated glance until they both quickly turned
around and began to leave the room.
I wanna bullet proof your soul
Would you like to lose control
I won't let you call until you tell me so
~~~~~~~~~~~~Later that Week~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Carly sighed and leaned her chin on her palm. She stole a glance at
the
clock. God, 45 minutes left. Did that man ever shut up? Probably not.
The
slight grumble of her stomach momentarily took Carly's mind off her
boring
profesor and the large sum of time she still had in his class.
She quietly reached into her bag and struggled with the contents, finally
she
triumphily pulled her out her hand, which now held a gronola bar. As
she
pulled back the wrapper and began to nibble on her snack. Her mind
quickly
wondered to the reason she was so hungry, Jason. Not that he had starved
her or anything, it's just this morining his first meeting wasn't untill
noon, so he
was there for breakfast. Now, ever since......that night, they'd been
carefully
avoiding each other. It was all to awakward, and everytime she thought
of
him, it broke her heart. That night was just a drunken man fullfilling
his needs
to him, while to her....it was holy. It was what she had prayed for,
what she
dreamed of, and despite her drunken state when it had happened, she
remembered every magical second of it. It would have been true magic,
if
Jason had felt the same way. If he hadn't had been imagining her. Kissing
her, touching her, loving.........her.
Carly was startled from her thoughts when a hand tapped her shoulder.
She
looked up to see Ken grinning at her. "Wow, I didn't think that you
liked this
class so much that you didn't want to leave."
A startled Carly quickly glanced around the now empty classroom. "Oh,
I
guess I got distracted."
A sexy smirk took over Ken's face as he responded. "What? Mr. Foster's
2
hour long lectures on color don't intrigue you?" Carly let out a short
laugh as
Ken continued. "They don't have you sitting on the edge of your seat
begging
for more?" he casually sat next to her.
"You gotta admit, it's funny! A man who wears navy blue pants, a dull
yellow
T-shirt and a bright orange tie is teaching us about color coordination?
Now,
if they want us to learn about style, you should be teaching." he leaned
back
and cocked his head to the side as he studie her.
She was wearing a tight black silky pants, black strappy sandals, a
black
camisole and a long knee length sheer white shirt over it, which she
had left
open. Her hair was piled on top of her head. She had copied the style
out of
the latest Vogue. She knew she looked good, but had been dissapointed
when Jason failed to mention it this morning "You always look great."
Carly's smile widened. "Thanks."
"Listen, I've got an hour untill my meeting, wanna go grab a cup of coffee?"
Carly's smile tiand she looked at her watch. Apperently the teacher
let them
out 25 minutes early, so she had that long to wait for Johnny.
Ken picked up on her hesiatation and quickly added. "Hey, no date. Just
two people happy to get out of a boring class early quenching their
thirst!"
When Carly still seemed to be thinking, Ken laughed "Hey, if it makes
you
feel better, you can even pay for yourself!
Carly let out a short laugh and said. "Ok, you got yourself a date!"
What are we?
(whatcha wanna be)
Everything!
That you wanna be
All I need
(Right in front of me)
I've known before
"He's planning something Jase!" Benny said seriously to Jason. "He just
brought his nephew, a Tommy Dillion in."
The two men were talking sullenly in the livingroom of the Penthouse,
Benny
on the couch, Jason looking out the window.
"I know." Jason said slowly than turned to Benny. "But, we have no idea
what." he took a deep breath to calm himself. He closed his eyes and
rubbed
his eyes with his palm and counted to ten. At ten he slowly exhaled
and
opened his eyes. "We have no choice." he raised his eyes to meet Benny's,
and only then did Benny notice the fear and helpless in them. "we just
have to
wait."
Would you like to come my way
Or did you burn out to the end
Would you like to come my way
Should have listened when you called my name
Yeah she wants to tear you down
And she leaves without a sound
It's like fallin' backwards
Into no one's arms
Carly removed the lid from the paper cup and thoughtlessly tossed it
aside.
She reached acroos the table for the tiny pitcher of milk and poured
untill the
dark liquid untill it turned a light brown. As she put the pitcher
down, she
glanced up to see Ken watching her with an amused smile. "What?"
He let out a good hearted laugh and responded. "Nothing, I'm just
memorizing how you make your coffee."
She gave him a bewlidered look as she reached for two sugars. "And why
would you do that?"
"So I can pleasently surprise you next time and slowly win your heart."
Carly broke into a smile and watched as Ken brought his cup to his mouth
and took a slow sip. "Black?"
"Yup, the manly way." Ken responded and watched as she brought the cup
to her mouth and took a slow sip of the hot liquid. Ken chose that
moment to
ask. "Doesn't your husband take his coffeee black?"
Carly's eyes grew wide and started to cough. She quickly set the cup
down,
spilling some in the process. She brought a napkin to her mouth untill
she
stopped coughing. Then she set to cleaning the table, while in a low
whisper
hissed. "How'd you know?"
A loud rumble of laughter erputed from Ken's throat. He picked up Carly's
hand and fingered her wedding and engagement ring. "You forgot to take
off
your rings."
"Oh." It was stupid, she knew it. But what was she suppose to say? She
began to ramble "Listen, I'm sorry, but I didn't exactly lead you on,
I said I
wasn't dating, I mean it's my business that I'm married, no one else's."
She
began to stand and leave.
Ken quickly jumped up and grabbed her wrist. Carly quickly pulled back
and gave him a warning look. "Listen, it's no big deal, we just came
to have
some coffeee."
Carly gave him a confused look. "So, you don't mind? You're not mad?"
Ken motions for her to sit down, and as she hesitantly does he also
takes his
seat. "No, I'm not mad, I'm not easly discouraged Mrs......?"
"Morgan. Caroline Morgan, but my friends call me Carly, so you can call
me
Mrs. Morgan." Carly said with a repressed smile. Ken smiled back and
Carly continued. "So why are you in that class? No offense, but you
don't
look like a clothing designer."
"Didn't you mama ever tell you not to judge a book by your cover?" Ken
said in a teasing voice
"Didn't you mama ever tell you not to talk to strangers?" Carly shot back
"Yes," Ken said seriously. "But she told me something else, something
even
more important. Something that I live by."
"Really? Well this I've got to hear."
"She said to never let a beautiful, intelligent, intresting, witty woman
slip
away." Carly smiled and Ken leaned back and continued. "No matter how
many rings she has on her finger."
Carly was taken back and was silent for a moment. Once she collected
her
sels she took a breath and leaned over, resting her elbows on the table.
She
looked Ken in the eye "I better your middle initial is a F."
"For Fabulose?" Ken asked as he also leaned foward, and rested on the
table.
"No, for foolish." Carly said as she leaned back and studied him. "Haven't
you ever heared of Adultry? It's a sin in many religons."
"Haven't you ever heared of unhappiness? It's a sin in my book." Ken
countered as he also leaned back and crossed his arms.
"Who said I'm unhappy?" Carly seethed
"You did, when you asked me to ask you to go out for coffee."
"When did I do that?" Carly asked sharply.
"Well, you didn't...." He watched Carly grow a satisfied grin and added
"Verbally, you eyes were begging for an escape from the unhappy thoughts
that were plaguing you, but obviously you don't wanna talk about it.
You
want to be distracted from it. I can tell. You're so uneasy on this
topic, and
since it makes me happy to make you happy, I'll distract you. So lets
see,
you asked whi I was in a clothing desining course?" Carly nodded and
ken
continued " Well, I figured it was an easy few credits. See, I've got
this great
job, but it requires me to take some collage classes. I figured I'd
want to
dress to impress and it might help to learn how to make good clothes
so I'll
know how to pick them out."
"What great job?" Carly asked curiously.
Ken's smile broadened. "See, I know the winners. You didn't hear anything
else I said, did you? You only hear the important stuff."
"You're avoiding the issue."
"Prehaps, would it suffuice to say I could treat you right?"
"Why would you treat me like anything?" Carly asked with a disintrested
shrug. "We're only strangers who have a common collage class grabbing
a
cup of coffee."
"Strangers don't grab coffee. Acquaintances, maybe, strangers no." he
momentarily studied her. "And we are definetly not Acquaintances."
"No?" Carly asked in an amused voice. "What are we?"
Ken leaned foward and grasped her hand, bringing it to his chest and
held it
there. "We, baby are connected."
Carly was startled and it took her a few minutes to gather everything
that had
just happened. Just as she had prepared a snide remark, Ken had already
released her hand and was standing up. He was reaching into his pocket.
He
pulled out several bills and tossed them onto the table. "Caroline,
it's been a
pleasure. I'll see you soon, and just so you know, rings don't scare
me." And
with that he was gone.
Carly leaned back in her chain and closed her eyes, trying to comprehend
what had just gone down when suddenly a little alarm in the back of
her head
went off. Her eyes popped open and she looked at the clock on the wall.
She was 20 min. late to meet Johnnie. She grabbed her coat and flew
out of
the resteraunt, hoping he hadn't called that national guards, or
worse.....Jason.
You're a bullet through my soul
But I'll never let you know
I wont' let you fall until you let it go
Carly sat in front of the vanity, brushing her wet silky hair. She wore
a white
silk nitegown, that hung to all her curves. She watched as the door
slowly
opened and Jason walked in. They made eye-contact in the mirror. Their
gaze held each other's for a moment untill Carly looked away and went
back
to brushing her hair. Jason watched her for a moment before he moved
to
the closet and began to take off his jacket and hang it up.
Out of the corner of her eye, Carly watched Jason. She stared whistfully
at
his long hard, lean chest, which called to her from under his tight
black
T-shirt. She quickly looked away. Jason however turned to watch her.
The
nitegown was low around the chest and he could see the soft while,
creamy
skin which had quivered beneath him. Memories of their night together
came
flooding back to him. He quickly shook his head and forced his eyes
upward. "Johnnie told me you were late today." He waited 'till she
spun
around to look directly at him, not through the mirror. "Abd that you
didn't
come from the school."
"My teacher let me out early, i went for some coffee. God, It's no big
deal."
She said in a defensive voice.
Jason sighed and walked over to the bed and sat on the edge. "Yes, yes
it is
Carly. It's a very, very, big deal. I need you to be guarded at all
times. I
would like it if you would even take Johnnie inside the classroom,
what
you.........."
"Whoa, just hold it!" Carly said jumping up, and Jason reluctuntly stood
also.
"There's NO way, I'm taking a guard into class with me. God Jase. I'm
safe.
I'm as safe as I can be, but I'm an adult. I'm a person. I need space.
I need
room. I can't have some guy standing over my shoulder every moment
everyday. It's suffocating. You can't bulletproof the air around me.
I'm cool,
I'm safe. Just stop the interigation.Ok? I don't need guards 24/7"
Jason didn't like it, but he didn't feel like arguing. He finally nodded
and said
'Goodnigt.:
"Night." Carly responded sadly and watched as Jason walked out of the
room.
What are we?
(whatcha wanna be)
Everything!
That you wanna be
All i need
Would you come my way
Ken stood outside of Carly and Jason's apartment building. He watched
as
Carly's bedroom window went out and took a drag on his ciggarette.
He
took his cell phone out of his jacket and dialed a number, never taking
his
eyes off the window. "Hello? Moreno? It's Tommy. Don't worry, the plan's
been put in action. Soon, you'll have Morgan right where you want him.
One
thing, I call dibbs on the girl." An evil smile crossed his lips as
he exhaled
smoke and glared at the Penthouse windows.
Would you like to come my way
Or did you burn out to the end
Would you like to come my way
Should have listened when you called my name
Yeah she wants to tear you down
