About our Student Organization

El Grupo de Danza y Arte Folklórico de la Universidad de Tejas en Austin was founded in September of 1975. Alias the UT Ballet Folklórico, it has been a Recreational Sports Club since 1976.

Its purpose is to promote awareness of the Mexican culture through dance by providing and conducting educational presentations on campus, in Austin, and its surrounding communities.

Membership is limited to UT students, faculty and staff.

Rehearsals are held year-round:

  • Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Anna Hiss Gym (AHG) Room 136 – corner of Wichita and Dean Keeton St. (26th)
  • Saturdays in the Texas Student Union Tower Room, about mid-day
