CHAMPION LOCHEIL LOOK NORTH |
5 CC's, 4 RCC's. CRUFTS Best of Breed 1997. |
16.5.89 ~ 24.12.2004 |
Nap gained the first of his 5 challenge certificates at 18 months of age under Breed Specialist Judge, Mrs Mary Miller, at the North West Border Collie Club Championship Show. He then took a couple of year "out" to mature and enjoy his sheep work.
Nap has always enjoyed working sheep more than being a show dog, however, when he came back into the show ring he was consistently in the cards.
Nap passed the Working Test for Show Border Collies during May 1994, and his 3rd Challenge Certificate at the Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show in August 1995 under Breed Specialist Judge Mrs A Gillespie. Nap made breed history that day by becoming the first Border Collie full champion.
Nap was then semi-retired from the show ring, but came back to make a guest appearance at Crufts 1997 in Veteran Dog. Nap won the Dog Challenge Certificate from Breed Specialist Judge, Karen Dalglish. A thrilling end to Naps show career.
Naps progeny are successful show dogs and sheep dog trial dogs. They also successfully compete and win in Obedience, Working Trials and are also Search and Rescue Dogs.
Nap is a superb ambassador for the breed, he has an excellent temperament and extremely good conformation. Nap is a once in a lifetime dog and I am so proud of him.
Finally I would like to pay tribute to his father, the late Sh. Ch. Viber Travelling Matt from Corinlea, JW, for being the outstanding sire he was, and to Naps mother, Lethans Jace for producing two superb litters to Trav.
Nap was sadly given sleep Christmas Eve 2004, a heartbreaking decision which had to be made, we all miss him here at Locheil, he will always remain in our thoughts and in our hearts. Run free Nap until we meet again.
Nap is pictured here with his Mum, Jace.
