There are all different kinds of surfboards ranging from the bodyboard to the shortboard to the longboard. These boards come in all shapes and sizes. An all time favorite is the bodyboard, where all you have to do is ride on your stomach. The shortboard is for people who just want to tear the wave apart, making nice, big round turns and hard snaps off the top and maybe get a real nice ride in the tube. They're usually around 6'6" and under. Then there's the longboard, this board is usually for people who just want to cruise. It is around or over 8 feet. A favorite and classic move on the longboard, is the "hang ten." And also there are funshapes that are from about 6'8" to 7'6". Shortboard surfboards have different tail styles. The most common tail style is the squash tail. This is just a flat tail that works well in most kinds of surfing breaks. There is also the fish tail surfboard which you can get a picture of by thinking of a fish's tail. These surfboards are used for waves that aren't very powerful because they generate a greater amount of speed than a normal squash tail.
