Hal promises to get Margo reinstated. A frantic Emily calls the police because someone is breaking in to her apartment. Both Hal and Tom disbelieve her but Hal sends a car anyway. Emily is hyperventilating when Tom and Margo come upon her. They try to calm Emily, who's desperate with anxiety. Margo, Tom and Emily are forced to spend New Year's Eve together due to the storm. |

Tom and Margo grow closer as they pitch in at the police station on New Year's Eve. A jealous Emily looks on but manages to find solace in comforting a little twelve-year old named Susan. Emily identifies with the little girl whose father has been brought in on a DUI charge. Emily winds up alone in a hotel room when the electricity goes out and a door creaks open. |

Shocked by a mystery man entering her hotel room, Emily manages to call 911. After a few words into the receiver, the phone is yanked form the wall by the mystery man. Tom and Margo respond to Emily's call, leery of its legitimacy. Finally, only Tom is left to search for Emily while Margo is hurt and angered over Tom's decision. When he arrives at the hotel, there are apparent signs of forced entry. |

Margo has joined Tom in Emily's hotel room . . . but Emily's not there. After hearing a scream come from the basement, they find her there, distraught, in the fetal position. Both Tom and Margo believe Emily needs psychiatric help. Emily insists she's not crazy. |

January 11 |
Emily fears Susan will commit her, and begs Tom and Margo for help. A worried Tom and Margo decide to tell Susan of Emily's apparently psychotic fear of David. Em frantically begs them not to. Her mother has threatened to institutionalize her before. She begs them not to leave her because she is convinced that David will come back. Tom offers to stay, but Margo stays instead. Tom leaves to get Susan and Margo warns Emily that she does not believe her story. Margo sees no reason why she should, after all Emily's done. She washes her hands of Em and goes to Susan. Susan goes to talk to a therapist about whether Em should be committed, while Em goes to the police station. Mystery man calls the father to report Emily's filing a complaint for breaking and entering. |

January 12 |
Tom and Margo are concerned when Adam begins to act out. The stress of his parents on-again, off-again relationship causes him to take the car and he is arrested for speeding/driving without a license. Margo wonders if Tom moving back to the hotel now is the best thing. Meanwhile, Susan suggests that Emily commit herself. Emily insists that she is not crazy, but when Susan hears that Em is relying on James--her worst enemy--for help, she realizes her daughter's condition is worse than she thought. Emily arrives at Fairwinds and is attacked by a man in a ski mask. In their struggle, she manages to get the mask off and finds herself face to face with David. |

January 13 |
Emily grapples with David and manages to escape the hotel. She runs out of the Fairwinds and smack into Tom, who has come at Susan's urgent request. Emily tells Tom that David is inside. He rushes in the house but finds no evidence of David. He believes Emily has snapped. Tom agrees to check for David in the anteroom where James kept Emily locked. When he enters the room, David locks him in, and escapes with Emily. Susan then shows up and finds Tom locked in the anteroom. She deduces that Emily locked him there, to avoid being institutionalized. Emily is locked up by her abductor at an unidentified location. |

January 14 |
Margo thinks that Emily's concocted another scheme to get Tom's attention. She has really topped her prior plots by kidnapping herself. Margo is upset that Tom refuses to go home with her, in order to stay and investigate Emily's disappearance. She asks him to move back out as planned. Emily grows more desperate in her prison. She fears no one will come for her, after all the harm she has done. |

Tom, looking for Emily, is in Oakdale Courtyard when Brad smells gas coming from Andy's apartment. They drag Andy out and when he comes to, he tells them Molly's sleeping inside. Brad goes back in and brings out an unconscious Molly. |

January 22 |
The mystery father receives photos of imprisoned Emily. Meanwhile, Emily is making an escape attempt and tries to call Tom but the phone is taken from her. However, Tom is able to trace the call to Groverton, and we're reminded that Groverton is where Lily/Holden took Hope to see a specialist. Reacting off the news that Emily contacted Tom, the mystery father addresses a letter to James Stenbeck... and pulls out a gun. With Brad's support, Molly makes a tough decision and tells Andy's family that he's been drinking again. Bob, Kim, Margo, and John decide to take immediate action and when Andy comes home, he finds them gathered for an intervention. |

Thanks to Molly, Andy's family (including Margo) gathers for an intervention but Andy just rails against them for ambushing him. Molly shows up and her emotional, impassioned plea proves to be the most powerful voice among them. Andy's family can't help but be moved and impressed by Molly's selfless, compelling plea. But Molly doesn't think the intervention had any effect on Andy until he returns, asks her not to move out, and let's her know he's returned to AA. |

Eddie and Katie abandon their plans to go to the dance and spend the evening sledding instead. Margo admits Eddie and Katie's relationship bothers her. |

January 27 |
Katie argues with Margo, who admits she misses the time when Eddie was a part of her life. Tom walks in on the fight and when Katie leaves, the tension mounts as Margo tells Tom not to compare her and Eddie to him and Emily. Tom counters by accusing her of wishing she had slept with Eddie. Tom also expresses his worry about Emily's disappearance, but Margo is unsympathetic. |
