Andy privately urges Emily to tell the truth that she faked the mugging just as Margo arrives and overhears.

December 10

Susan won't lie for her daughter and, when Margo asks about the mugging, Susan tells her the truth. Emily fears Margo will tell Tom everything, and decides to tell him herself. A disgusted Tom tells her off and goes to see Margo, while Eddie confronts Emily. Andy, feeling terrible about his family, Nikki and breaking his AA code, takes a drink. Georgia urges Eddie to tell Katie the truth about college, but Katie has already found out from Margo.

Margo begins to soften slightly with Tom, and Emily is devastated to see the couple Christmas shopping with the boys. Kim and Bob are also at the mall, and are thrilled to see Margo and Tom together in public. Later, the Hughes family panics when Adam alerts them that Casey is missing.

December 16

Tom privately realizes that Emily disappeared at the same time Casey did. An arriving Susan mentions Emily's erratic behavior of late, and everyone wonders if Emily could have taken the boy. When Emily returns with Casey in tow, the Hughes believe she deliberately took him. Emily says actually the boy came to her wanting a toy, and in the Christmas spirit, she bought it for him. Tom doesn't believe her and Emily leaves devastated. Casey later confirms, as Tom realizes that Emily was telling the truth. Emily decides to send herself a gift from David as we see someone watching her.

December 21

Margo reports to Lily that James has no financial assets. James demands to know what Emily knows about David. Emily shows him the gift David gave her, a broken heart with David's name on it, as James hopes that David's soft spot for Emily is their way to reach him. Margo arrives and says it's all a lie. James warns that Emily better not be lying, then leaves. Emily warns Margo that if anything happens to her it will be Margo's fault. Margo leaves and Emily discovers her keys are missing.
