January 4

Tom calls Margo home with an urgent message, then tells her that he wanted to get her home alone so he could take advantage of her. The urgent message was the only way he knew she'd rush home. He then surprises her with a picnic of her favorite foods in their living room. They eat their food and make love on the living room floor. Afterwards, Margo says that she has to go back to work and they fight again. Tom accuses her of only coming home for a quickie when he wanted an afternoon with his wife. He then makes a remark about not liking Margo's perfume and she flips out again. Margo says that their problems come from the fact that they've stopped communicating about important intimate issues. When Damian calls, Margo tells him she can fly out to DC tonight. Leaving things cold with Tom, Margo gets on the plane with Damian.

January 5

The Kingsley-Malta jet hits turbulence and Margo, Sam, and Damian are thrown around the plane.

January 8

While on the jet that is going down Sam remembers good times with Kirk while Damian remembers times with Lily and Luke. Margo recalls times with Tom and the boys, including the fight they had before she left, Tom comforting her after she was raped, holidays together, and the picnic she and Tom shared before she left. At home, Tom bought several different types of perfumes to surprise Margo with as an apology for his earlier comment. Jessica arrives and Tom asks her for her opinions on the different perfumes. After Tom tries out a number of scents on himself, they pick one called "Forever." Dani, upset that Jeremy never said good-bye, arrives at Tom and Margo's house to take his jacket. Tom assures her that Jeremy would have said good-bye if he had had time and that "In matters of the heart it's best to be patient," and that "you'll always know when you've found the right person." He gives her Jeremy's jacket and sends her on her way. John and Lisa, Lily, and Tom all receive phone calls about the plane's problems.

January 9

Sam, Damian, and Margo's relatives are told that contact has been lost with the Kingsley-Malta jet. Tom shows up at the police station and tells Hal about the plane problems. Hal tells Tom that he can't join the search party, but that everything that can be done is being done. Tom feels guilty about not stopping Margo from getting on the plane. When Hal reminds him that Margo isn't the kind of person he could give orders to Tom says he could have tried and if he had "She might still be alive." Hal tells him that until they hear more Margo IS alive. Scott shows up at the police station to help Tom out. Lily and Tom get word that the search has been temporarily called off because of the weather, while Kirk listens to an answering machine message from Sam saying she is on the plane.

January 10

At the police station, Scott and Tom talk about the plane crash. When Tom hears that there may have been a fire on the plane he worries about what he is going to tell Adam and Casey about their mother. Tom is upset that the last time he saw Margo they were fighting about her perfume and that he never got to say good-bye. Later Emily feels guilty about Sam being on the plane, Hal sits at Margo's desk, worried that she's gone, Kirk tells Lucinda, Scott, Lily, Cal, and Connor that he was wrong and that Sam was on the plane. Finally, Tom comes home to a dark house and prepares to throw away the perfume bottles. Crying, he answers the phone as it rings "What? Who's there?" Margo replies "Me."

January 11

Tom is overjoyed to hear Margo's voice on the phone. By a pay phone in the middle of the snow Margo is barely able to tell Tom that it's cold, then tells him she has to go back to the plane because there is a "single 418" (or a seriously injured survivor). She drops the phone and leaves. Hal arrives at Tom and Margo's house and they put a trace on the phone call from Margo. Adam and Casey return from Florida with John and Lisa and Tom tells them that Margo will be back home really soon. Hal spreads the word that there is one survivor in addition to Margo. Kirk and Lily realize that it is either Sam or Damian that survived the plane crash. Tom, Kirk, and Lily get ready to go to Maryland to help with the search for Margo and wait for news about the other survivor.

January 12

In Harper's Ferry, Maryland, everyone is waiting for news about the plane crash. Tom talks with Lily about Scott being there for him right after the plane crash. Hearing the chopper outside the hospital, everyone gathers to see who survived the plant crash. Margo is the first to be wheeled into the ER where she and Tom are reunited. Lily runs outside and cries out for Damian, before the second survivor is brought in.

January 15

Lily is devastated to see that the second survivor is Sam, not Damian. Margo is checked by the doctors, but wanted to check on Sam and talk to Lily about Damian's last moments. Bob and Kim join John and Lisa at Tom and Margo's house and comfort Lisa when she finds out that Damian wasn't the survivor. Margo tells Lily that she saw Damian's side of the plane slide under the ice. Margo assures Tom that he'll never lose her and when they kiss she realizes that Tom is wearing perfume. Tom explains that he was trying on perfume for her when he got the phone call about the plane crash. Margo tells him that his choice smells like bug spray, then wonders why she was the lucky one who survived the plane crash.

January 17

Margo arrives home to find the whole family waiting for her. Tom worries when Margo acts like nothing happened, then refuses to rest. John tells him that she may be having a delayed reaction to the stress of the situation. Tom's worries are only increased when he finds Margo on the front porch in the snow denying that she's cold.

January 23

Barbara turns Nikki in to Hal for stealing from Fashions and Hal is forced to hold Nikki in a cell. While fighting with Hal, Barbara blurts out that Adam is Hal's son, in front of Nikki. When she asks Hal about it later, he denies it. Tom tries to keep the fact that Sam is blind from Margo, while Margo rushes to return to work. Tom promises to back off a little bit if Margo slows down, Margo agrees to not go to work for the day as part of their compromise. When Lisa shows up and blabs about Sam's blindness, Margo overhears her. She decides to go to work despite her agreement with Tom. Tom yells at Lisa for being insensitive and blurting out the news about Sam. When Margo gets to the station she overhears Hal and Barbara fighting about Nikki's problems and goes down to Nikki's cell. While there she screams at Nikki that someone has to teach her a lesson. Hal hears Margo screaming and banging her stick against the cell bars and grabs her and pulls her aside.

January 24

Margo is still all riled up in the jail cell as Hal questions her irrational actions. Barbara drops the charges against Nikki and Hal releases her. He tells Margo that she came back to work too soon. Margo yells about Hal coddling Nikki. Hal tells her that she's been through a lot but that she'll be okay. She shrugs him off and leaves. At home, Tom sits down to read the newspaper and sees that Margo has written the word "crash" in every space. Tom shows up at the station and asks Hal if he thinks Margo is ok, Hal says no. Margo goes to the firing range. Later, Margo overhears Tom telling Hal that he's worried about Margo and about all the strange things that she's done since the crash. Tom shows Hal the crossword Margo did and they decide that something is really wrong with Margo. Margo says that she couldn't stop thinking about the crash and wrote it into the puzzle to get it off her mind. Back at Hal's house, Nikki asks Barbara what she meant when she commented on Hal not raising Adam. Barbara tells her that she misunderstood, then Nikki shows her a photo album Hal had in a drawer. The album is filled with pictures of Adam. Barbara then admits that Hal is Adam's father, but threatens her to keep her mouth shut about what she's just learned. At the station, Hal asks Tom if he worries about Margo losing it around the kids but Tom says no. Hal visits Adam at Tom and Margo's while they aren't there. Margo is about to leave Tom at the station to check out a convenience store hold up.

January 25

Nikki tells Barbara that she is on her way over to tell Adam about Hal, but Barbara stops her with more threats. She also tells Nikki that they all did what was best for Adam and that it's not Nikki's place to change that. After Barbara leaves, Nikki heads over to Tom and Margo's to confront Hal. Tom stops Margo from going on the call and tells her that he sees sign of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome in her actions. Margo gets mad, but Tom tells her that he'd rather have her mad at him than her dead because she went back to work too soon. Tom tells her that the boys know something is wrong and they are worried about her. Tom wants Margo to talk to the Internal Affairs shrink, but she isn't very cooperative and insists that she doesn't need a shrink. At Tom and Margo's house with Adam, Hal tells Kim that he is very worried about Margo. Just before Hal leaves, Nikki shows up wanting to talk about Adam. When the shrink questions Margo about the night of the crash she clams up.

January 26

Margo tells the I/A shrink that everything was completely normal the night of the crash. When the shrink suggests that she'd be able to open up more if Tom left the room Margo tells him that Tom is the one person she does want in the room with her because he's the one with all the doubts about her. Margo is surprised when the shrink asks her about the actual plane crash and says that she has not talked about it with anyone yet. Tom listens as Margo talks about the first signs of trouble on the plane. When she can't come up with anymore details the shrink makes Tom leave so she can concentrate. Margo talks about how she wished she could have stood up so she could help Damian. When she was pushed for more details, Margo shut down and got angry. Elsewhere, Hal tells Nikki the circumstances around Adam's conception and why Tom is raising him instead of Hal. Tom and Margo arrive home just in time to see Hal hugging Adam goodnight. Tom asks Hal if he is there to check up on Adam and when Hal says yes, Margo tells Barbara that Hal's overprotectiveness is her fault. Margo gets upset when she thinks he was over pumping Adam for information about her behavior. Tom tells Hal and Barbara that Margo has been through a lot and that she is coping with everything and they leave. Afterwards, Tom asks Margo about her session with the shrink and she says it went well but that it isn't the thing for her. Tom tells Margo that he knows she didn't lose her mind when the plane crashed and she tells him that he is a "minority of one." Together they worry about Hal making problems where Adam is concerned.

January 29

At home, Tom tells Margo that he knows she had a bad day. She says nothing but kisses him roughly, Tom is taken aback. When Margo begins to get really rough, he laughs and pushes her off him, trying to catch his breath. Margo gets very upset and Tom tries to convince her that he liked it but was just surprised. She asks him to tell her how he wants her to act and she'll act that way, so she can be normal again. Later, Margo gets out of bed and stares out the bedroom window, while flashing back to the last few minutes before the plane went down. Tom wakes up and calls her name a couple times before she snaps out of her daze. Margo gets back in bed and tells Tom that she's fine and asks him to stop being a hall monitor. He tells her that he is only doing it because he cares about her. When Tom goes to get a drink Margo freaks out and curls up on the bed, scared. Later on, Tom watches as Margo sleeps.

January 30

Mac is giving Margo an award for her heroic actions regarding the plane crash. When she gets up to accept the award she shouts that it isn't right and she doesn't want an award. When Sam arrives she convinces Margo that she deserves recognition for what she did. Margo says that she only did what she was supposed to do, that she was only doing her job. Then Margo finds out that she got the Chief of Detectives job, as well as a promotion to Lieutenant. She is less than grateful and hardly accepted the plaque before she ran out of the room. Margo goes outside to sit with Sam and look up at the stars. She describes them for Sam who wishes she could see the stars too. Margo and Sam bond some more over the plane crash and their survivor's guilt. They also talk about how good Tom and Kirk have been throughout the whole ordeal. Tom comes outside and he and Margo go home. Later that night, Margo comes into their bedroom and sees that Tom has lit candles and turned down the bed. They realize that they don’t have to lock the door even because the boys aren't home. They get into bed and when Tom goes to kiss Margo she pushes him off her with a scared look on her face. She then decides she's okay and kisses him again. But when they get more passionate she screams "no!" and pushes him off again. She won't open up to Tom about what's wrong though.

January 31

Still keeping quiet about what's wrong Margo tells Tom that she can't make love to him and leaves the room. When Margo comes back she's dressing and says she doesn't want to talk about what happened, just that she's not in the mood. Tom tells her it's fine and that he would never want her to do something she doesn't want to do. Margo tells Tom that she feels like he was pressuring her to make love by sending the kids to be with John and Lisa and lighting all the candles. She also says that she's not going to make love to someone that does not trust her. Tom is surprised and confused when Margo says she can't understand why he thinks she'd want to make love after what happened the other night. When Tom wants to know if Margo's discussed her problems in her therapy sessions she tells him that she's having problems trusting him and doesn't want to talk about therapy. Margo leaves the house and Tom answers the phone when the shrink calls asking why Margo has cancelled some appointments. Tom asks the shrink for advice on dealing with Margo, but he tells her that Margo has shared very little with him and that he really doesn't know. Meanwhile, Margo shows up at Lucinda's to visit Sam. After the visit, Margo takes the plaque from Mac and buries it in the snow while crying.
