KATINKA FARAGó
SCRIPT GIRL / PRODUCTION MANAGER

Katinka Faragó began working for Bergman while still in her teens. As a script girl she soon became an indispensable asset to Bergman, so that by dint of application and intelligence she had reached the position of Production Manager on the massive Fanny and Alexander. She has served as a full producer on various films by other directors and her quiet, observant personality has been of considerable value to the Swedish cinema of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

COMMENTARY

"He was supposed to be pretty wild and not like script girls and assistant cameramen, so I was very nervous. But it worked out all right, partly because I was so scared I didn't say anything and he liked people that didn't talk too much."
– Katinka Faragó on Dreams, her first film with Bergman

"I think that's why he always wanted to work with the same people, so that after the first film they pretty well knew what he wanted. We always had a long meeting a couple of months before shooting started, and we would go away from Stockholm for a couple of days, all the main people and read through the scripts. They were wonderful meetings, they went on late into the night and this was the beginning of the preparation. This was one or two months before shooting. So we didn't have to have big discussions during shooting."
