Overview & Purpose (civics objective)

#22 - Recreation

"Access leisure-time, cultural and/or recreational resources."

Additional Assessment Plan

Task 1: Students will complete a chart showing up to 10 items of information about a leisure-time, cultural or recreational activity or venue that he/she has read about or researched.

Task 2 (IL-A only) : Student will complete an authentic writing task in the form of an article or review on a leisure-time, cultural, or recreational activity or venue.

 

Language & Literacy Objectives:

1. Consult newspapers or other media to identify performances to attend and facilities to visit. (BL-A)

2. Organize ticket purchases, transportation, and other logistics for cultural and/or recreational activities. (BH- A)

3. Read posters, playbills, etc. for cultural and/or recreational activities. (BL-A)

7. Read maps, schedules, floor plans, and/or computer screen information about cultural and/or recreational activities. (BL-A)

8. Locate recreational facilities in the community and list activities, cost of services, and hours of operation. (BL-A)

Task 2: “Write a Paragraph”

Students will learn about leisure-time, cultural and recreational activities and venues in the local community. They will learn how to write a basic paragraph, to summarize information about a place of interest.
