Once a Black Hole's event horizon is crossed there is no escape from its infinitely strong gravitational pull - not even light can escape! What applies to the physics of the universe applies to pinball too and there is no escaping the fact that Black Hole is arguably the greatest playing of all (the commoner) System 80 games. Not only that it still holds its own against many games made since. Period. What really proves BH to be a classic though is that this is the game that is kept by collectors today. Note the word "kept". Haunted House is perhaps more sought after, but Black Hole is the game that people keep!
Lloyd Olsson of SS Billiards, operating in Minneapolis, paid US$2409.75 for his BH on 11-9-81, according to his receipts. His records show that Gottlieb games were priced similarly to Williams multi-level games, as in the same year he paid $2386 each for Black Knight, Jungle Lord and Pharaoh, $2074 for a Bally Xenon and $2282 for a Mars God of War.
