The highlight of the Warbird adventure at Sun and Fun is the yearly Banquet which is usually held at Fantasy of Flight. Last year they tried it at Cypress Gardens and about twenty people attended. This year the banquet was completely sold out. I happened to spend 3 minutes with teresa Weeks who is the modle used for Apache Princess. Apache Princess is the B-25 that won grand champion Warbird for 2002. Both pictures are here so you can see the similarity. And although the nose art is magnificant, it cannot compare to the original.

Kermit Weeks is the only living human being who knows all of the inventory at Fantasy of Flight. Here he is leading the Chinese delegation around his museum. The Chinese are here to help promote the sale of their CJ6. Someone suggested that the Chinese could introduce individual freedoms in China and that then their own people would be able to afford the CJ6 and there would be no need to export the plane.

Finally, here I am on my way to Sun and Fun. The weather down was great except for the thunderstorms around Daytona. The weather home was a real caution. I came back at 14,500 on flight following, which I had to beg to get. Just north of Tallahasse I was asked if I was IFR equipped and qualified. I had checked weather before leaving LAL. Therefore it came as quite a shock when I learned that Columbus and Atlanta were 600 feet and that Chattanooga was also IFR. Sixty miles south of Winchester AWOS informed me that BGF had 2,500 scattered. However, the weather under me was solid with RMG reporting 800 feet and 10 miles. I was 30 miles out when I was switched to Memphis Center which issued an IFR clearence. They cleared me to 4,000 feet and I was descending at 1,000 fpm and cancelled over Winchester at 7,000 feet in good VFR conditions.

And a big thanks goes to Alex Itenson for the following pictures taken on the flight line at SnF 2002.
